    Long Journey

    Hi everybody,

this is cover art which I did for "There" by Rhonda Parrish.
The story is about Colby. Young beauty girl, she is looking for the magic stone at the heart of the Reptar's sacred tree. She needs the stone to save her bother from vampirism. Her mission is not easy because danger lurks around every corner.
When she approached swamp she meet Xavier, a gentle soul trapped in the body of a monster - his current look is the result of the mad experiments of a man named Scholar who once held him captive. Xavier and his sentient shadow
accompany her on her mission. He is so unhappy cause all the time Scholar does not let him get away... Colby and Xavier need to work together and overcome evil.

    any C&C much appreciated!

Wow, really nice atmosphere. I really like the rendering on the figures, especially the girl. One crit: there's a tangent where the creatures horn turns up, butting against the contour of his head. It would help dimensionally to have the horn just slightly cross over that contour.

Very cool piece. . .agreed about the horn tangent. Also, for me I'd like to get rid of the other creature dude in the distance who seems to be watching, and change direction of some of the trees so they criss cross and perhaps lead off into the distance. All that aside, I do really like the atmosphere. . .the girl, and his hands and feet.
    cheers

hey Daroz, good to see some new material
I really like the overall mood of the piece, just the strong blue light from the right is too much for me, especially because the light source is not visible
you could add more warm-cold contrast in shadows and lights or some glowing strange plants if you wanted to get some color contrast in the scene
    cheers
