    Neytiri WIP

Saw Avatar twice; here's something I've been working on in the GIMP for the past few days.

    Neytiri WIP
This is 2 and a half hours of work with a wacom 3x4 graphire.

I know that with this 'outfit,' she's supposed to have braided hair, but I like the straight look better.

Someone on deviantart said that the eyes still look lifeless, any pointers on that?
The rest is still very unfinished, but pointers are still appreciated.

Something about her left breat is bothering me. and try making the eyes more golden . They look a bit a greenish gray to me.

Very nice, the face is coming alone very well.
I also saw Avatar 2 times, loved it so much! Great to see other people somewhat inspired by it.

Anyway, i would recommend to brighten up the eyes a lot, if you haven't yet try to get the concept book for the film, some great stuff in there. Also fix the arm or chest.
the arm looks as if the chest should be facing the viewer more than it is, so it looks somewhat twisted. Should be an easy fix though.

Good luck mate, would love to see an update.

ye, saw avatar twice here to =Pits a great movie, i think u nailed the face, it looks like her, but ye, the yes could need some work., use harder brushes with more opacity for em, when painting eyes u could probebly have 00 opacity and like 90% hardnes, and just hit that iris with one click.

I got ya all beat .... hahahah ..... I've seen it about eight times already. I love it!

And her hair, for the most part, is a series of long braids (braided back off the forehead) that go just below her shoulders with entertwining beads and things.

So far she is very recognizable ...... really nice!

Aha, if you've seen it so many times, then don't you remember that after the ceremony and for the SPOILER SPOILER sex scene SPOILER SPOILER and the morning after she has her hair straight and unbraided?

Although I know that then she also has a different, more minimal 'outfit' without any feathers that I'm not drawing. :/ Ah, well, it won't be 100% accurate.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone; I'll be posting an update soon!

Eyes look lifeless when the white light that is reflected off of them is not present or present in a smaller quantity. I would suggest brightening this reflection. (Its that little white spot you put on the eye)
In the picture above the reflected light is bright and visible on HER left eye.

Really sorry guys, haven't had much time to work on this because of school... Here's a bit of an update though. Does having a banshee there still work compositionally? Maybe if I move Neytiri over to the right a bit?

Personally I think it would be a little too much. IMO it would be better if you just placed her in the forest.

The neck is too long, the perspective of the body looks like the bottom is coming towards us instead of away.

She needs a highlight on the far eye.

Too late to put the banshee IMO.

actually if you look at the ref photo the neck looks about where its supposed to be. The Navi have longer necks.

I noticed that they have longer necks. Still, I believe the neck in the painting is a bit long. I think the trapezius muscles need to climb up it more. I guess the hair could be hiding it.
