Does the naked body (not a perverted post)....

I'm pretty sure you've all heard of Michelangelo.
    Well have you?
If you haven't, he was a Renaissance artist. When he painted the Sistine Chapel, he was barely a painter;mostly, just a great sculpture.

I think this man is the true epitome of an artist.

Anyhow, I saw some of his drawing of naked models. I was astounded at the detail he put in the naked body. I thought it would just be a bunch of straight lines(border). He inspired me to start drawing about a week ago....

So... Does drawing the naked body count as art?

    I think it does.

    Yes and no. Next question.
Also spamming your blog in your first post of a thread you created to spam said blog in, is considered bad manners.

Sorry, I just read it, and you're right. It does seem rude. I just deleted it.

    Thanks for your input!

Also, your discussion boils down to "What is art" and we've already had that discussion several times, usually ending up in a flamewar rather than come to a conclusion.
So it might be useful to use the search function next time before you make a new topic.

Drawing the naked body is the sole purpose of art. If you go by art throughout history, you'll find most humans are naked. Being fully clothed is only a recent invention invent by politicians to tax clothing. By going naked we can reclaim our heritage and save taxes. Art is always truthful to ideals, so you know you can trust it.

That's right! Clothes were created in a secret Russian lab sometime in the late '50s, amidst the Cold War. If you wear clothes, you're actually endorsing communism! I'm glad all the old art still shows that there was a time when people were naked all the time... too bad so many of those old pieces were manipulated to put clothing on them again .

In all honesty, what's the point of this thread? Maybe it should be locked...

    Hey WOLRDCLASSken,

You can prove that the purpose of this thread is something besides spamming your blog by removing the link to it from your signature. And posting some art.

    I have my doubts, though...

Having actually checked out WCk's blog, I think he's legit.
    So...
YES, everybody here is more than familiar with Michelangelo and his work.
NO, nobody here thinks drawing nudes is perverted, it's the foundation of most traditional art training.
I'd suggest doing a LOT of browsing around here.

The scary part is that I bet if you googled "teenage mutant ninja turtles porn" you'd find a ton of stuff. Forgive me if I don't carry that experiment out myself.

...the rat spent all his time fondling that news reporter...

I don't understand a damn thing about this thread...

First, OP asks a forum that specializes in anatomically correct art if they've heard of Michelangelo. ...duh...ummmm...

Then OP asks if we think the depiction of nudity is art. ...more duh...ummmmm...

OP...I'm obviously too far into the negative numbers on the IQ scale to understand what your purpose was in starting this post, so would you please explain it in little bitty one-sylababble werds that even I could grasp...?

Maybe the ability to start threads should be reserved for persons who've already accumulated a certain number of posts? Seems like it'd cut down on some weirdness.
