Icon Drawing App for the Droid Phone?

I just found out I might be getting one of those new Motorola "Droid" phones for a good deal due to a joint plan.

But I was wondering if there was (or is going to be) a good little digital painting app for it like the iPhone has. I did a simple google search and didn't see much, but perhaps someone here has some more obscure info about it?

Having a little digital painting app might influence my decision as to whether to get one or not.

    Thanks.

    Nobody?

Well, I did find this, but it's definitely not up to par with the iPhone's "layers".

There is a bunch of drawing and painting apps in the Android marketplace.

I just started playing around with a couple of free ones: BlueBrush and Oekakiroid.

Oekakiroid seems pretty straightforward. I haven't figured out if there is a way to change your brush (actually a pencil) but you can change line weight.

BlueBrush has a nice interface but also GoogleAds when you access a menu that you may find intrusive.

They both seem to have the openCanvas thing that lets you share a session with a friend. I've never done this though so I don't know how it works.

Either ones don't seem to have layers support though.

Note#1: I am actually using this on a Motorola CLIQ (DEXT outside of the US). The Droid/MILESTONE has a more sensitive touchscreen so these apps may or may not work better.

Note#2: I actually have ties to Motorola so take my opinion for what it's worth.

Edit: I just looked at that doodledroid. I might hold off on Biggie Sizing my Extra Value Meal and use the 99cents to try that out.

Sounds like a cool app, although to be honest I'm too afraid that the Droid phone might inadvertently crush my skull should I attempt to use it. Be careful with that thing.

Yeah, though I don't think there's anything out there on par with the iPhone when it comes to this type of thing... :-\

For example, I have yet to find an app that supports layers, which would be pretty darn nice.

But who cares about making wimpy layered pictures when you can crush rocks, anyhow?

Does anyone actually use these mini drawing apps aside from the first day or two and moments of excruciating boredom?

I was thinking it would be a great way to get better at observational color and 4-corner compositions, anytime, anywhere. Like if I'm hanging out at a park or waiting for food at a restaurant, I could make mini speedpaints and work on my color/composition skills, both things where I have room for improvement.

    That's the hope, anyway...

Have you found a drawing app you like? I just got a motorola android, and for now i am just interested in simple line drawing (a la Matisse). I need something that is VERY easy to upload to Facebook and e-mail

    Thanks,

    I'm glad I have a rooted phone, so I don't see ads

I know there was grafiti too, but I'll check the others out. Need to find a good stylus for the touch screen phones, for the G1 you need to get the kind for capacitive touch. Not sure if the Moto Droids work the same

Because of the flavors of Droid's OS (ie cupcake, donut, eclair) the phone makes, like Motorola, HTC and Samsung....as well as your carrier, apps may vary from model to model.

However, a good search is here http://www.androlib.com/

It's especially great if you have the barcode scanner app. It's because then you can just hold your phone up and scan the QR code to get the app.

    ......

When my last contract ran out I just got the first touchscreen phone I saw, unfortunatly it was the Blackberry Storm.

I still hate apple because of the Safari thing, but why didn't I just wait for the Droid?

In case people want to know, again if you have a certain OS, some apps won't show up due to compatibility

    Cupcake is 1.5
    Donut is 1.6
Eclair is 2.0 (which is pretty new)

To know what build you have you need to go to Settings -> About Phone (usually close to the bottom) to know what build you have. (of course some apps may only work on rooted/jailbreak phones)

Google Goggles for example is compatible with Donut builds and up http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...veil-xAxB.aspx

But again I believe the most essential app for the Android powered phones is the barcode scanner.

    You can use http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...droid-xzA.aspx

or Mobile Tag (it reads more types that the first last I tried)

    http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...etag-njqn.aspx

Drawing apps have been stated, but as I said you can even use PS mobile for resizing images for free.
