I see you're punching up those values a bit more. I can see your capabilities a lot more clearly when you draw in pencil. Digital is definitely a different animal to wrestle with as I've learned in the past three months.

Was that commissioned drawing of the old guy in graphite or charcoal? I couldn't quite tell. Did you light-box the photo or just sight and measure it. I always found it a bit of bitch to sight and measure from a photo. When accuracy is at stake and all I have is photo I'll usually trace it if I can.

Tex- It is actually an acrylic paint wash. Where you build up the values with thin watery layers of paint. This also gets rid of the glossiness that you would have if using straight paint. As for measuring, I just eyed it, which is why some of the painting is off from the photo.

    johnny24- Thanks

Lt- I appreciate your comments, never stop please

    platfus118- Thanks

Didn't get much done today, but more than I thought I would Some arm and hand studies, some cloud studies that turned more into a brush experiment, on the right. Found another brush I like, think I'll use it in tandem with the round transparent one. Last one is an update on the colossus piece. I need to get better, so much to learn yeah!!!

nice sketchbook man,on that last piece I dont think there is enough separation between the major value shapes
and between light and shadow which is very confusing for the eye and breaks form.
I like the composition though and this study has potential.

Ahhhh I think your art is pretty great
I especially like your moleskin sketches, the nice hatches and things.
For advice I'd probably say work on your compositions...
You have nice ability to render and nice colors,
but if the views and angles were a bit different each of your pictures would be much more dynamic and interesting.
Also I'm seeing that alot of your characters are centered in the middle.
Very bad compositionally since the eye is not led anywhere.

I'm sorry I wish I could give more advice,
but I'm not too good at art so this is all I can see right now.
    I hope I helped though ^ ___ ^

    Great stuff!!!
