    nice sketches mate.
I am refering to the reference cards that ricardo posted. If we gonna do something like that (simplified style) i think the finals will look like WIPs and unfinished stuff to the eyes of others. But there must be some combination for that.A way to be simplified but still interesting as a character design
Thats what ricardo proposed. To avoid doing the classic style that everyone will do and do something different more close to these cards from the refs

Aye I we could try going for a more simple thing... I'll give it a try tomorrow or sunday.

Gave this one color just for kicks, we probably ain't going to use it if we do go for simplification, but anyways.

Also, you can give other crits other than "nice sketches" ya know

lol i know, but since we know that we must change the style somehow, i thought there is not reason to throw a strict critique.ANd its in the beginning so i actually liked them. And this last one really much.I like the style of the brushstrokes and the more dark feeling than the previous of the magician.+ some texture feeling here and there.
I dont see any anatomy issues on this one , only the face seems to need some more definement and reproportion but this will be visible when you render it.
Thats really a lovely piece, and if we do not change the style can become a really awesome card

Btw i understand and sorry for not being that active, i just try to do everything in my free time that is limited now.Have to try and be more active here

    Hello mates!

Nah it was only a proposal, talking with Morgado via msn and thinking it more slow, maybe would be better to go for this style we do better, or we really like more, this will be reflected in our finish card. Maybe there´s no time to develop these simple style to make it enough succesful. moreover, I live very much the ressults I see here in your both cards, so my opinion now is leave it for another chance..
well I see Kingkostas card more inclined to sci-fi or retro-future than steampunk, but personally I would like more to do it sci-fi...
In the case of Morgado it looks more victorian, in the aspect of the suit and general aspect, but I miss some in-basis tecnological elements. The pose has relationship with the card meaning but In my opinion it lets less ways to personalyze her like steampunk (a weapon, some rare equipment..) maybe put some tech in her column/ass? but ofc you allways can add elements in the background.
    later i´ll put more sketches.

Heya Ben! Yeah well, probably because none of us really broadcasted the fact that we were here... very humble bunch we are

I think that Sci-Fi doesn't really fit with the whole Tarot thing. I can't conceive in my mind a culture that heavily relies on technology and science, having any sort of beliefs regarding myths and premonitions.

Is everyone available to meet on msn tomorrow (monday) at 21:00 GMT, so we can discuss this faster, and finally decide what we are doing for sure?

for me it´s okay tomorrow at 21:00 GMT.
ah this last character is top notch King, very cool concept, independantly of the final use. you´re reaching high levels man! I see him a bit extreme hermit but yeah..
please confirm the meeting, if you can.
    see you!

here are my first 3 sketches/ designs for my empress card. The meanings I have in mind to represent, would be a strong and beautiful woman; wealth; power; fashion; ... Might also try drawing a female stripper called "empress" hahaha, could be fun

    Thanks... I guess
I've checked your thread, and I really fail to see where you guys are less awesome than we are

Cool sketches Kromnz! I personally prefer the last face. However, looking at the description of that card, I can't see that "mother personality" on that character yet.

Well since we finally decided the illustrative style and design ethos we're following, here's the same mage I posted before, but more in tune with what we need. I removed the iconography for now, but I'll re-add it later, with a more steampunkish vein

    Wadda you guys think?

    hehe thanks b-man!
Kromnz cool sketches, the lines& faces are sweet. the stripper mode could be cool
Morgado I like it. once you add the iconography it will become totally steampunk.. maybe some more worked background with this style?
some sketches, it is related to the need and the dependance between the lovers.
One thing, we gonna use a common card border design? It would be good in my opinion.

Thank youguys!! your comments help me to pick a direction with those 3 sketches. hehe, yeah, there is no mother personality...I had an idea for the first sketch to have the woman pregnant and holding her belly jeje.

Morgado @ Wonderful improvement over your initial sketches, really like those gloves, its that a big heart I see with his arms and cables? cool!

Ricardo@ really lovin' these last 2 sketches, I would vote for the last one because of the heart in the machine, I think that is a very sweet detail

    hehe b-man thnx mate

kromnz these are damn great.I love both the equipment and the lines yay!!!.Nothing to crit now i wanna see how the rendering can go.

Morgado very nice and it creates an M with the legs and the cloth.Really interesting .For now the face seems somehow strange to me

Ricardo i think the second composition is better and also because its more front view can depict the characters better .Interesting mechanic parts

ok here something i start doing for the hermit.I redarken the whole thing but of course a lot of things will become brighter later.I will be able to make it brighter and darker if i need so for now i will keep fixing. What you guys thing about the decorative elements in the background?(everything is mostly unrendered so far)

    see ya

He dont seem to be very concentrated for a magician or someone similar.Maybe the head could have a vertical and down direction to give some passion explaining the movements of his arms preparing a spell or something.(this also may enable you to add some extra equipment on the head.
Of course thats just an opinion.Maybe if you refine the head more in its current position it can be really good to what you wanna show in the end

Well, the idea I had in mind was exactly the oposite, he's head tilted up, looking at the viewer with a serious, all important look. The usual head down, concentrated things is becoming a bit too cliché for me
But yeah I was revising the head this afternoon against reference, and noticed many mistakes that made it look strange, and NOT tilted in any way... I'll post a more revised version later, so you can tell me what you think!

About the hermit, I think that it is looking too dark (its always better to make it in a higher key and then darken it, than the inverse).
The pattern looks cool, but I think it detracts too much attention from the character. Perhaps going with a plain background might be the way to go (also will make the image more graphical and direct I think).

some advance in the design, i changed a bit the space where the figures are, and added a steampunky "cupido", whis is used to be in the lovers card.
Kingkostas now i like more the general feeling, anyways you can add interest to this mystical void place. I´d do the figure bigger in this case No idea of when the deadline is, gotta search it. see ya!
