The Art Department location poll. Which location are you interested in?

    Hey all,

We are going to be making more announcements this week about the upcoming Art Department foundations, concept art, illustration and drawing and painting programs but I wanted to take a moment to see which locations were most appealing to you as students.

We are soooo excited about this. I can't wait. http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=172141 is the link to the big discussion thread and tuition poll, in case you have not seen it. We are essentially taking on the big art schools head to head with a program that costs a third as much, offers no interest student loans, and a million dollars in scholarships. The connections to the professional community is deeper than all the art schools combined, and we will be able to make the best students industry famous overnight. Care to join us?

    Thanks for voting too!

I'll gladly move if I have to, but Kansas City is closest to my Midwestern roots. Plus it's a pretty active art community.

SF is best because it's close, but Richmond and austin are great too since I have family there, if you can count me for all 3

I wish we could have this in Finland, but I guess Paris, Amsterdam and San Francisco are the best options to choose from .

I was interested in the program, but I'm living in Japan and without plans and money to move =o

I would be cool if CA had a online program like the school, with foundational classes like the composition and the color ones

Since I'm in the Bay Area, I voted SF but hopefully it would be walking distance to BART

I voted for KC. But, none of those locations really work for me. I, actually, need something more in the Midwest...or an online version.

You might consider that option, since then you could teach around the world.

Richmond, VA. Too much west coast love at CA.org, need some outposts on east-siiiiide. Plus it's close to home.

Agreed with BuckWeisel, so much art shit over on the west coat. The majority of the good ateliers are around CA and the west. Need to put some stations down in Florida son

But for me, Richmond is closest.

I chose Richmond because it's closest to where I live, but Kansas City is a close second, especially since the cost of living/apartment rental is lower there than it is in Richmond. So if this was multivote I'd probably have chosen both.

Edit: IF there were better opportunities in San Francisco or Austin, (for example, internships at development studios, or ateliers that I wouldn't be able to access in KS or VA, then it might justify the added travel distance and cost of living for me. I'd need more information to decide.

Also, perhaps an extended stay hotel would be a better choice than getting an apartment? Does Europe offer these at a fair price?

I'm interested in then program but I'm living in Malaysia, so those places are not convenient for me.
Online classes will be the best bet for me. Any chances that Asian country will be considered? Thailand, China ?

I'm almost midway between Paris and Amsterdam, voted Paris as it's easier/faster to go there for me.

If Europe isn't possible, then of course the farther to the east the better, so I think that would be Richmond then.

(btw this is off-topic but that Gene Simmons/Mao crossover is LOLesque)

Europe and Asia are "someday". Right now the four locations of Richmond, Austin, SF, and KC are the only ones on the list. We would love to keep growing but we are starting with regional locations in the USA to be able to offer the best program we can and will go from there.

As a European, I vote for Europe whether it's Paris or Amsterdam.
However if I were to pick from the US locations, I'd vote for San Francisco since I love it to bits (used to study at Academy of Art)

So, the four US areas are guaranteed to exist, and the point of this poll to estimate how many people will come and determine their capacity?

Or are the locations not set in stone and the poll might determine whether or not to use a certain location?

Austin, TX FTW! As much as I love the resources for learning, high caliber of artists, not to mention the temperate tropical weather in SoCal, I could do without the insane traffic, cost of living and lack of parking in L.A.

Big Question: Will these onsite locations for The Art Department offer any other options besides the 3 week mandatory workshops?

    What about Chicago?

We need someone to offset the Art Institutes b/c they're on the verge of sucking.

I'm in the UK so it'll have to be Paris as the European location for me.
Only a quick train ride under the English Channel to get there!!

Some nice things about Richmond: within 2 hours you can get to Washington, D.C. (National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Natural History, etc. all free admission), the beach, the mountains (we have amazing hiking around here), Shenandoah national park, or Dulles airport (major international airport).

I'd be a bit more excited if I didn't live in Canada.

    Sigh.
