Hey, just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying your sketches and everyone else's on here. I've been looking at sketchbooks for several hours per day. It's really cool watching people improve.

Yours was especially neat because it didn't go up all that much in skill-- maybe a bit, and then WHAM, the multiportrait color explosion on this page just floored me. You have improved so much. I am especially loving your shading style, very interesting and moody.

    RETEP's Sketchbook update 8/26

senior year still - just feel like i should show what ive done up till now- leaving tons of stuff out.

    about 18"x30"

    close up

HATE this painting (but i gotta show shitty stuff too)

    close up

all on like 3"x5" canvas board

this painting was a big step for me, understanding how to paint better- fairly small, done with pallette knife

    close up

summer after highschool- wanted to something BIG- its about 4 1/2 feet tall

    sketchbook stuff
based on a topic i found on CA

    from college

the guy on the right is based off a design by Hugeharhar

i think i used four colors in this one

rest of catch up will be college till now....

my experience at college was really eye opening i believe i grew alot while i was there, and ill be headed back sooon
while i was there i finally got to work with live models, so the majority of the figures in these pics are from live models.

    me mom

    sketchbook stuff at college

And sorry about not calling you back about the scavanger hunt, it's randomly gotten crazy down here. How did it go?

i cant figure out why the title of my thread hasnt changed, ive changed title of my first post and nothings happening. and suggestions???

    more college sketchbook stuff

fav page from day at the zoo

a sketch from BODIES exh. in ATL

    newsprint size

    exercise

one of my final projects i made. i think its much better in person, kinda hard to see in pics.

heres a final project, series of portraits i did of friends and family. they are all between 4 and 5 feet tall or long. some of the colors didnt come across so well in the photos, some are a little too warm or cool. all done from photo, though i wish i could have done them from life (that just wasnt possible).
    -friends
    kenneth-

    thomas-

    sulgi-(done with pallette knife)

    -family
    Erik-

    -michelle

    -sarah

heres it all put together (how i presented it). i had an image projected just enough to notice(subtle), so when you went up close to look at it your shadow would be cast on the images(affecting the overall image).

heres just a pic of it in the dark, so theres a BIG contrast. NOT how it was presented

i believe thats all the old stuff i am going to post so, next post will be new stuff.......later.

a quicky oil painting- from life

most of them are for a project me, Hugeharhar, and chromaticcodex are working on.

this guy is actually supposed to be something you ride through a forest/jungle high in the trees

    finished this today
SP in my sketchbook i just finished, mainly an experiment with gouche. many layers and almost all dry brush.

    later.

To change the thread name, go to the very first post in your sketchbook, click edit, and then go advanced. It'll give you the option then.

That last thing you did is pretty bad ass by the way.

What is this? Is this when we actually start posting in our sketchbook threads on a regular basis?

I sure hope so, that would kick ass.

I say we need to make sure we both keep at it.
