    Lounge Missing!

Is it just me, or has the Lounge forum vanished? I just refreshed and *pop* it was gone! I hope its nothing serious, there were some great and really rather valuable threads in there, like the exorbitant beauty thread, or Nibru. Even several pieces of wisdom from Jason.
Anyone know where it is? Am I just getting the wrong end of the stick? Info people!

Might be a temporary solution to the bandwidth cost for a month or two...

Not sure. It's definitely gone. Someone suggested getting rid of the lounge to save on bandwidth. *shrugs* not entirely sure.

It's not deleted, I was in there reading while something happened and I ended up in weird places. I can't access it now, but it's not gone, just moved or gone private for a while.

If they did so for the sake of saving bandwidth, good riddance. If not....glad it went away It shifts the attention of the forums to art rather than random (often not important or valuable) stuff. Too bad of few good things it had. Ah well. back to art

You know we could start a lounge sort of thing over at LiveJournal and use their bandwidth?

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

Until Jason posts here, I suppose this thread can serve as a shelter for any loungers lost on their travels. I understand if it was removed, but would like both official confirmation and the rescue or opportunity to rescue some of the material there.

That's so wierd! I was in the lounge and it did the same thing, just disappeared when I navigated out. But I have to disagree with those who want it gone permanently, there was a lot of good stuff in there... sounds like it's just inactivated for now - better than all of CA being gone!

That as may be, but I would still like some official opinions. Im guessing it was some sort of temporary failure, maybe caused by the massive traffic to the Blackout thread.

A great disturbance, as if millions of bored voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced!

I think Sorknes is right. When I tried to access the Lounge I got a message that I don't have the authority to access that page, not a 404 indicating that it's gone.

In other words - it's still here. We just can't see or use it anymore. I'm sure it'll be back in due time though, after Jason fixed whatever caused him to close the Lounge down, and that all the stickies and words of wisdom (and words of not-so-wisdom) are still intact there as we left them.

For the time being - draw, people! Or spam the forums, whichever you prefer

I certainly hope its intact. For all its whiners, spammers, trolls and muck the Lounge occasionally brought forth diamonds like Exorbitant Beauty or Nibru. It provided a place for people to vent their views, discuss in a casual environment and band together as a true community rather than an "art club" if you understand what I mean. It would be a painful loss. Should it truly be gone, I can only hope a sticky would be erected to its memory, where people could vote for certain topics to be resurrected.

Personally, I have to agree with the people who say good riddance to the lounge as well. Too much talking and not enough art!! I am also one of the posters who were lost at sea...and came here.

What is the point of great art if we lack the humanity to appreciate it on a more than technical level?

Bah, I kinda like the idea of turning off the lounge every now and then. Or maybe having the lounge hotlink to the critique center.

I think having fun and offtopic is as important as, if not more, discussing about art all day long. Sharing your view on different topics with other artists is very valuable to my eyes.

Are you fucking art robots? "Lounge too much talk, too little art" wtf people?

So while the Lounge is down, why don't we all go to the Critique Center and help some people out with their projects?

There is a risk here the site may lose its sense of cosy community, almost like a city. If the Art forums are Grand Halls where we go about our noble calling, then the Lounge is our Town Hall, our marketplace, our agora, where the public relaxes, voices its opinions and generally is human. I fear without such a place, the majority of posters may become rather introvert and prone to outburst without a spigot to legally vent personal opinion and emotion.

Lounge isn't all bad... we need to keep an eye on what's going on the world... plus threads like Awesome Creatures and Nibru were really great. Then again there's plenty of trash there as well.

Farvus, I know we need to improve, I know we need to work. But now and then we need to TALK. To be human is to be a strange being, a constant swirl of thoughts, interests and emotions. To channel all of that without exception into one aspect of yourself, especially such a potent one as artistic talent is both inhuman and rather dangerous for yourself. We need to maintain healthy opinions and think on all subjects, If we, the artists, can raise ourselves to higher moral and mental planes through art, then should we not discuss what we can see there?

EDIT: Oh, thanks Black Spot. Hopefully your kind gesture wont be needed too long.

I did it to take the pressure off Jason. He must be going though hell at the moment, seeing all his dreams being smashed unless he can fix it, and getting flack from all sides.
