Nice to see you updating again, and so many different mediums, styles etc. Looks like a lot of fun. I like that last painting under the video.

Hey cool progress. I actually think metal cupcakes are kinda creepy, don't know why. Maybe because my mind is telling me I can't eat it, and it looks greyish lol. Anyway I like the figures. I also like the gestures of people, it has a very nice storytelling quality to it.

Keep climbing that art ladder until you get wings to fly!

p.s. that snail headbang comment was funny.

I was glad to see you were back but it looks like you're already gone again and I missed you. I hope you'll be updating again because I really like your energy. I like these last sketches and the painting at the top looks good. especially the brickwork.

Teapo: you should definitely try watching them some of the movies are soooooo bad

MetalFingers: Hi! Sorry I didn't get to say bye to you maybe next time you're up, let me know!

BlackSpot: Well, I am again I'm glad you like the different mediums!

poetryman: I get what you're saying, that's kind of the reason why I welded them. If only you could try lifting them they're pretty heavy!

NicG: Sorry I haven't been posting, I've been to tired to do anything else but school XD

Ah, I've had a lot of things going on in my life the past few months, but I'm gonna be smashing my nose to the grindstone XD I'm touching up some of my assignments before I post them, but here are some of my sculptures. They don't look too good, but I'm not very familiar with the materials

Hahahahahaha the Beefcake pose at the end of your ATAT animation love it, very nice animation too.

Glad you're back posting Betsy! The Cowboys on Tiny Horses tickled me, the poses are so funny, and I like the loose style of painting you've used on them. I don't know maybe work on the values a little bit more just to make them look a little more rounded?

The sculptures look ace! the legs on the top one are very good and I like the long legged creature a lot too.

Keep up the good work! Btw what are you studying?

Loving all the new work. The cowboys cracked me up completely - so cute and funny. The first sculpture looks intriguing.

Angel: Yay, you got the pose!! My teacher just thought he was dead at firstXD. what would you suggest with the values? I didn't really focus that much on value differences because it was originally for an image transfer project that I did with winter green oil. Did you know that wintergreen oil melts plastic? I didn't, or else I would have used a glass cupXD!!

BlackSpot: I'm glad you liked them so much! I had a lot of fun doing it, mostly because of what I was drawing And "intriguing", cool! I'm glad you think that!

Teapo: YAAAAAAY TINY HORSES!!!!!...Boy, I'm tired.
And don't worry, you'll get used to me About the sculpture, It's basically a big stuffed animal with armature wire, so I can bend it! I sewed and cut out the skin as I went along.

Well, my tablet is dead I'll see if I can fix it

Yay! I love blink and you'll miss them moments When I spot them it makes me feel special, lol! I'd never heard of wintergreen oil before, it sounds quite potent! I just looked it up, I like the technique looks quite simple, I found a tutorial using a marker blending pen instead of oil I think I'll make my Christmas cards that way this year. what did you transfer the cowboys onto?

Values..hmm, it's still something I'm learning really, but with the cowboys its mainly their faces and the left one's red shirt, if you squint you can see that the colours flatten out and look abit monotone. It's something I have trouble with too so I'm not too confident what to suggest. Maybe make a shadow colour with a green complimentary colour in it? Not too much, just where the darker shadows would be like under his armpit, round his arm and on the shadows on their faces from their hats.

Values is something I've only picked up on recently, I did Jason Seilers course and he drilled it into every video, squint all the time when doing studies, focus on values, look at how one value looks next to the other. If you do that whilst working in colour too I've found it helps, his other quote was "squint to look at the values, open your eyes to look at the colour". Once you've got the values sorted everything else seems a bit easier, like applying colour and texture.

Hope that helps. Keep up the great work!
    Ang

slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things

Closed: Hopefully someday you'll feel like posting your art on CA again, I wish you luck

Angel: I'll post the transfers tomorrow, I did them onto BFK, nothing fancy. I'm not sure about the blending pens, some people in my class used them for the assignment and didn't really like the results. The oil's not to bad, just needs to be done in a place with ventilation, or else it smells like 100 people chewing gumXD. Thanks a lot for the advice, it really helps!

Sire above me, I doubt this is the place for this. In fact this is probably one of the most inappropriate places.

But otherwise, went back and looked through the first few pages, and I must add, you have improved drastically. And I can't wait to see you improve more!

I like the picture of your brother. The trouble with photos is that they tend to flatten the colours - there's very little variation, when skin is full of colour, which doesn't make it lively. I see some colour being brought into the skin, but not lots. The reason painting portraits is still popular is that as artists we can see so much more and give a picture life without being a facsimile.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

Teapo- Hey thanks! I thought it would be a good image to try out what Angel said, and I liked the results
BlackSpot- I can definitely see what you are talking about, thanks! It probably didn't help that he was facing the window eitherXD

Been sick in bed most of the week, the only good thing about having a fever in the summer is the heat doesn't quite bother you as muchXD But I am feeling better now! Even felt well enough to go to life drawing yesterday with my brother! I still feel rusty, but that will pass. Tried to do a CHOW, didn't like it that much, so started on a EOW

Hey, good to see you posting again!
Fever in the summer is really bad, remember to take your vitamins!
I like the hatching you got going on those studies, and your linework has improved lots.
Keep it up and try to get better.

I really like the cowboys. Lots of character to them. The life drawings are also looking good. Don't forget to study structure (construction of the figure from the round, ie cylinders, cubes) as well as rendering. Keep at it!
