    Some new work

Haven't posted in a few years since I have spent most of my time working on secret projects and such. Free time has been taken up being a dad so time for personal work has been very rare. I am working on that though and hope to produce more of my own pieces in the coming year.

Some of the work is from a past project and several (the more stylized ones) are from a project I art directed called Drawn, The Painted Tower. There was a ton of great artwork created. These are just a few of my own. Drawn is a casual-adventure-lite game from Big Fish Games which just launched this fall. If you have not seen the game, please check out these couple trailers:

    Here is the game's site:

Hopefully I can post some more work in the future from the game.

    Thanks so much!

    Cheers,
    Brian

Wow great pieces you got here! I really like the environments. Especially the day time tree house one. It looks like a very fun place one can be in.

The character lineup is great as well. The security guard looks like he wants to show you something ahah This reminds me of TF2 style. Is this what you were trying to go for?

Fantastic work! Where do you get your brushes? Mine are pretty limited, need more! I love the interiors. Where they for a specific game or film?

The "Metro" piece is gorgeous! Stylish architecture and great sense of scale and atmosphere - I guess I would call it sort of cinematic. Nice work on the Drawn game as well.

    Wonderful stuff!

I spent ages looking at your various woodland images, love the kid on the 'thingy' and the four character concepts are very cool... And tere's great atmosphere in the 'Drawn' posters.

Thanks for finding time to post! (As a dad of two little girls, I know exactly what you mean about the rarity of time for personal work!)

Adore the last few characters and the swanky orange hotel lobby.

Very refreshing work! The way you draw your characters with the rendered faces and shape reliant bodies is excellent.

THanks to all for the kind words of encouragement. Just a quick question. Has anyone played Drawn? Would love to hear your thoughts!

    Thanks again,

I said it while I worked there and I'll say it here. Brian, you guys have been killin' it at Big Fish Games Studios on the artwork for these games. You've really got to put out an "art of" book with process and iteration on designs as well as high quality glossy prints of these scenes.

I'm glad to see some personal work here too. The motion in that first one is great, the whole thing feels like the right mix of flimsy and chaotic (like something a kid would build) but also tons of fun and creative (like something a kid would build).

    A couple others (in progress)

Thanks for the input all. Here are a couple more, not quite final. These are actually 2 directions for the same piece. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Brian

It is a little hard to read what you're trying to accomplish with those two images so it is hard to distinguish the success or failure of the color choices, layout, etc. I really like the pushed pose in the first one but I think the water is a little subtle to read (the background/underwater/reflected elements are a little TOO clear and defined I suppose which I wouldn't expect from a warm, still pond).

On the other hand, I really like the action in the second one though I can't tell if the third figure is attacking or defending against that beast figure in the middle.

These are some fantastic work Brian. I can definitely appreciate the stylized approach on some of these. Obviously you need more time to redefine and push and pull things together
but I do want to point out that I fine the mood on the second one stronger than the other one now. I would love to see the end result! Best of luck!

    Great work dude!!

    Brian T!
This is great work! Love the color, shapes and energy in your new stuff. It's great to see other kinds of work posted up here beside warriors, boobs and high tech architecture.

Always been a fan of your fast brush work. Keep it up. Thanks for posting.
