    Hey everyone my names Tina and I'm new to this site ^^;

I was browsing the Deviantart forums, and I was reading this one article that got me to think, I should start practicing a lot more then I have been ^^ (currently I draw like every few days, only when I really feel like it)

So now I'm trying to go about drawing at least an hour a day XD
I'm not use to it, but I've been starting with posemaniacs (Had trouble with it in the past, 90secounds was too fast, but its not anymore ^^)

Even after years of drawing I'm still a beginner pretty much, so now I'm trying to stop being lazy XD And to also try to make myself draw things other the just anime.
People tell me I have potential, so I guess I do? XD
But yeah drawing/art is something that would oroblbly be the best career path for me if I could actually go somewhere with it ^^

I think I'll just use this to post whenever, I'll try to update daily with my "progress" if I rember. ^__^

If you have any suggestions on how to improve feel free to shoot them at me ^__^

So here's the first stuff i'm gonna upload ^^

    Hpim8778.jpg
Last night I was gonna get started with pose maniacs, but the idiotic power went out, due to too much wind D:
So I decided to pic somthing to draw by flash light, and this soda bottle happen to be in front of the flash light when I turned it on ^^
I tried to be as accurate as possible, but all the fancy little reflections, got so confusing XD

First thng on this sketch is the 3 person over ^^
I was watching an asian dramma, and decided to try to draw this one guy
    Everything else was random.
And then decided I should attempt drawing backgrounds, especially with perspective
    __________________________________________________ ____________
    Hpim8779zzzzzzz.jpg
And here's my first at posemaniacs (well since several months ago)
I'm keeping up with the 90secound speed well enough I suppose, but not completely.
Yeah they all look horrible XD
I'll problbly do like 8-10 poses every hour or two or something to get better at it.

Welcome to CA.org. Wanna get better? Focus more on structure and gesture, mainly gesture. And start some anatomy studies.

    Here's some tips:
    1. Study how light works and that will help with your shading.
    2. Practice with 3d objects, perspective, etc.
    3. Try looking up some books on figure drawing.

Nice bottle study by the way.

Yesterday I was sick so I couldn't draw anything >__< (spent 8 hours of fun in the bathroom! After the 8 hours I was fine, but its best for me to stay away from working on much after that)
So this is stuff from the day before yesterday ^___^

    Cammmera.jpg

The Camera I use to take pictures of my drawings XD
I'm gonna aim to draw one objext in my room per day XDD
It was more rushed then thec coke bottle, so I guess it might appear that way.
It looks to triangulary, so I think the main error is one of the longer lines is messed up

    pose maniacs.jpg

I cant help but feel like this is a waste of paper XD But I don't wanna use my tablet
Not really great, but looks better then my first runthrough XD

I haven't really been drawing the past few days, but yesterday I got to doing some stuff ^___^

    Hpim8796AA.jpg

I saved a whole bunch of pictures on my pc from DA for drawing references, and so the guy in the top corner was from that.
Then I went looking up how to study anatomy to draw it, and I'm still looking for a better resource, but I came across this muscle picture on one site. (skeleton from other site)
And then decided to draw from two more reference pictures.

    Hpim8797ssssssssssssss.jpg

    More referenced pictures from yesterday.
The 2 little block things are fabric, it doesn't really look like it XD

So yesterday I was looking up anatomy resources and I came across this one site with an ebook. So yeah I decided to copy just about everything in the book.
    I know I should problbly start doing things from my own mind XD;

I drew so many hands, yestderday was like hand drawing day, it felt so repetative but not at the same time XDDD
Sorry it looks so cluttered in these pictures [in person it seems less so] but I wanted to avoid new pieces of paper XD
For now I'm switching to lined paper, cuz' I want to avoid wasting printer paper, and lined paper isn't used at all anymore XD

    Hpim8807ww1.jpg
    Hpim8806ww2.jpg
    Hpim8808ww3.jpg

And then some 60 secound pose maniacs

    HEY MAN KEEP IT UP
if you keep working like that you'll be awesome in no time
try some more bold, consistent line, rather than scratchy, petted stuff; practice doing these kinds of flowing, bold strokes on a scrap paper, just feeling loose and learning to make them look as you want them to you'll see a tremendous improvement in freedom if you master bold line!

    reference

Nice start, hands are looking good. Starting to get back into posemaniacs myself.

For anatomy, drawing from reference pictures like it seems you have done is good. Remember that if you want to be able to draw straight from your imagination realistically, then you have to have data stored in your head already. This will come from lots and lots of life drawing and drawing from references (or so they tell me). You can still draw from your imagination, but you should draw from reference or life a ton.

You seem to be starting fine. A few good books have been written on anatomy and how to draw it by George Bridgeman and/or Andrew Loomis. There is also a real nice anatomy book by Peck.

    Keep drawing away.

Yeah, just keep drawing and drawing. Good idea to start with full pages of anatomy drawings. I would later try to concentrate on a finalized rendered drawing (5-10 hour drawing) just to see where you're at and what you have improved on. Then go back to the studies and practice the areas that you need to improve the most.

@Jaytea Thanks! Yeah I wanna try my hardest to get better as fast as possible, I dunno if I'll get better fast though, but hopefully it jump starts it somehow XD
I took your advice and tried to be less sketchy this time, but man its really hard for me XD I'll keep trying to work at it though

    @laxon I'll do my best!

    @rth2art Thanks ^___^
Ahahah well I hope this is building up my database then XD
But I guess its gonna be quite awhile before I get anywhere X3
I think I'm currently working on the Bridgeman one [looked for the author and I think it said him] but I'll definently look into the other two books too, can never have enough practice!

@Orozco Thanks I'll be sure to do something like that eventually Last night I decided to work on a more completed looking hand though (felt my sketchbook needed more color anyways XD).

    ______________________________
These are from both the 25th and 26th, I didn't wanna just post some hand sketches so yeah. (didn't have much time to draw as much on both days anyways XD)

Sorry for the blurryness of the photo's, I should have waited later in the day to take pictures.

    Hpim8820.jpg
More of those wonderful hands, a few I tried to be less sketchy with. (Nov25th)

    Hpim8821.jpg
On this one I concentrated on doing just straight lines, and then I finally got started on arms
As of now I'm just using this online version of this book as my main reference for stuff. (Nov26th)

    Hpim8819.jpg
And pose maniacs 1st is from yesterday 2nd is from the day before yesterday.

    hand.png
    And then a 'finished' hand.
    I looked at one of my hands I drew and tried to redraw it, then I colored over my sketch, and drew in the shadows I knew were there, and then kind of guessed on the rest XD I think I made my over outline too dark ^_^;
Only spent like 20-25minutes coloring in though.

Should hopefully have a lot more time for drawing today XD

Some arms from Constructive Anatomy (Been using it for the hands the whole time, but I think i'll keep refering to that ^^)

And then I decided to look up "The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" book. (was actally pretty fun, more fun the drawing nothing but anatomy segements over and over again XD)
So thats what all this stuff below is from minus the pose maniacs.

    2.jpg
So I think I was suppose to hold my clipboard in my lap, and have it facing vertically, (so like not horizontal like usual)
I dunno I got confused but thats the way I ended up doing it.
The eyes are kind of off and look uneven (didn't notice till I mirrored it X3)
I guess in a slight way it looks like me, but not at the same time, its weird XD

    3.jpg
Then I had to draw someone I knew from memory XD So I tried to draw my friend colby since I talked to him the day before, so besides my parents he ws the closet image in my mind. XD
His eyes and left side of his hair turned out right I think.the rest no X3

    4.jpg
Then It said to draw my hand.... I messed up on the fingers XD

    5.jpg
Hour Glass/Face image, had to view it as an hour glass when drawing the other side, I knew I'd mess up more if I viewed it as a face XD

    6.jpg
I don't like drawing upsidedown one bit DX
I didn't think it'd be anyharder then drawing right-side up, but it was, and I stll have to do 2 more XDD

    7.jpg
and lastly more posemaniacs, but now I can do 45secounders~

Heya! Good job! I pretty much started out just drawing manga as well so I know how you feel. I'd suggest doing some gesture studies to loosen up some of those poses.
There's a great book called Drawn to Life by Walt Stanchfield which I would recommend. Another great source for life drawing is Glen Vilppu.

Hehe, I recognise a Betty Edwards exercise when I see it. Keep going. Don't forget to do the exercises multiple times.

Ahahah woah, I'm posting pretty late, oops (well I guess there's no time limit on when you can post, so I dunno why I'm bringing that up XD)

@applecheeks Thankks a bunch, and thanks for the suggestion, guess since gesture was brought up twice its deifnently an issue, but I guess itreally is a big issue cuz' I always have trouble with (just didn't know what to call it before ^^;) Thanks for the book suggestion and site, I'll definently lookinto those! ^___^

@Blightedart Ahahaha its funny how obvious it is XD But yes I'll try to rember to do that~
Ashame I can't continue with her lessons due to lack have own a view finder, or whatever it was called. (Well I dunno how many lessons ahead used it, but the next two did so I thought the rest might X3)

So "The New Drawing on the Right side of The Brain" book told me to draw two more things upside down...so I drew these. The building was so detailed, I decided to save finishing it up for anouther time I wasn't lazy. (I messed up keeping the lines straight on the one side ^^;)

    November 29th

    2.jpg
Same book, but this time, drawing my hand without looking at it XD I found it fun so I did it anouther time with my right hand, and anouther but with my left hand. (ennded up running into my secound right hand drawing XD) And after I finishedtis I reaised I problbly did it wrong, cuz' I forcused on the most obvious to semi-obvious palm creases then worked on the hand outline XD

    3.jpg
More Stuff from Bridgeman's book ^^

    4.jpg
And yesterday I started on Loomis's book...and omg....this was sooo challenging for me XD By the female I got more of the hang of it, but man I dread doing these XD Guess that means I need to practice them more XD)
I did try to draw the guy version from memory, small...but I ended up making him 9 heads tall XD

    5.jpg
And more of the posemaniac stuff :D

Looking good. Hands look pretty cool. I heard of the edwards book but have yet to check it out. Drawing upside down? YIKES!! Sounds crazy. Seems like you have kept busy so that is good. Keep it up.

@rth2art Ahahah thanks~ X3 Yes upside down, no fun XD But sounds like for some people its easier to draw that way, lucky them XD
    I will~

I dn't have as much as usual, for how much I have been doing per day XD
But I started learning Japanese in a more serious manner, and have to help out with Christmas stuff, so slightly less time to work on stuff past few days ^^ I plan to pic up the speed~

This is all from Dec 3rd 4th and 5th, forot about pose maniacs two of the days. (I pretty much took a break from everything on the 2nd ^^; )

    2.jpg 3.jpg
    4.jpg 5.jpg
    More Bridgeman Stuff
    Drawing heads in those boxes was hard for me, I found it easier not to use them..hopefully its not bad I ditched them on the rest that included the boxes XD;

    1.jpg
Pose Maniacs, I decided to try a new stle of doing them.
I have no clue if my gestures are improving or not XD (its hard for me to personally tell ^^

    6.jpg
And this was just something I did for fun.
Especially enjoyed doing the backdrop, and that's usually my least favorite part of a drawing XD
I just realised the bottom of his cape doesn't line up DX
And I had trouble wth his legs since I didn't start this with an under sketch XD ANd I dunno what to do about the dragon X3
I know its anime sorry XD

haha i see loomis, bridgman, that left side of the brain book, nice studys keep that stuff and you will be better very fast.

one thing you should consider is maybe that you loose your hand a bit before you start to draw.

when i look at your studys you actully see how hard you press onto the paper that you nearlly scratch through the paper and you see te pressed in lines through the paper on the other side.

you could do some exercises like drawing circles very loosly. maybe use your whole arm instead of just your wrist.

    Anouther slim update, considering this is all 4 days worth of work ^^;
Have been having to make all these cookies recently, and now I think my throat is getting irritated from eating the ones my dad doesn't take to work (he has like 50 employees, so lots of cookies for everyone XD)
Kind of a lame excuse for myself, but it does take 3-4hours DX
I'm just hoping to get myself back on track soon XD

@Qikalain Indeed indeed, they all sounded like the most common books, so yes been trying them all out.

I never felt like I was near scraching the paper though (I use to draw/write like that, and so this is actually pretty loosely drawn XD)
Buttttt I have been having feeling they all look to dark, so this time I really tried to go lighter.
One day it went pretty well (I had sunlight in my room, so it was a lot brighter then usual)
But I'll work on it more.

I can't do the whole arm thing, wears my arm out XD

But yes thanks for the suggestion!~ ^_^

    More Bridgeman stuff
In the secound half of the last picture, the skteches are really light, its easier to tell in person, cuz' in this photo it looks the same darkness but its a lot lighter XD

    3.jpg
And then I was gonna attempt painting realism in Sai ^__^
I'm using a reference of a model of model mayhem ^^ (shown in attached images)
Thought not perfect (and I seem to have given the orginal model a different face XD) I think I did a good job, considering all my other digital attempts at realism failed.
Took me 2 hours for the whole thing DX But I got really into it so time flew fast X3

    5.jpg
And a little itty bitty image of pose maniacs, I didn't work on em' every day like I should be DX
Must get back into the habbit!

So here's stuff I've been doing over the past few days. ^^
    Ever since the head part in bridgemens book I've started to get really frustrated with these book studies DX (but at least I finished his book, will probbly go back to it one day though) and I can't work when I'm frustrated XD;
So I think I'm just gonna reference photos for awhile, and then go back to Loomis's book. (I need to have more fun when doing something or else I'll just discourage myself)

The Secound one I tried out Loomis Manikin's, alongwith the 3rd one

Forgot to add this last time and almost forgot to this time, but this is me practicing animating ^^
No clue what they're really doing, but both were pretty rushed XD
The secound one I had more of an idea.

Hey everyone, I know this update is so late! DX
I took a mini break from drawing [Well studying drawing, I was pretty much drawing for fun things at least once everyday] cuz' my internet went out and I had no way to get my .pdf's (but I can now go on my dad's computer till I can get my pc back on the internet ^^)

Last thing I drew was on the 23rd (16th, 18th and 23rd I didn't draw too much though, but doing the stuff)
But then I got back more to speed by January 2nd (9 of the pages are from then, to today)
Ahaha I know dates don't matter to anyone, but to me they do, I don't know why...

And now I'm back to white paper, the stupid lines confuse me too much so I gave up on them.

But still compared to what I was doing its a lot less, but I did work at least 1 hour a day ^___^

I've been getting better at drawing solid lines with minimal pettyness. ^^
And I never thought I'd think this but muscle thingies, those were the funnest to do XD (took 10-20minutes per arm though, just for drawing, not naming the parts)

So yes most of this stuff is from Loomis's bookexcept one was from photographs ^__^
Would anyone happen to know if there's a pose-maniac for people who don't have internet?
(like is there anywhere that has like a huge zip of several poses? )

There isnt a pose maniacs that I know of, but you are doing the correct thing. Check out this blog for alot of nude male reference. I think finding female is easy enough. http://markichester.com/draw/model.html

As for the gesture drawing I suggest reading some of Walt Stanchfield's notes on gesture drawing http://www.floobynooby.com/pdfs/gest...ranimation.pdf

As well The Vilppu Drawing Manual.

Keep on posting you are doing the right kind of stuff. Don't get frustrated though, chill out on bridgeman for awhile if he gets to ya

You're definetly going the right way, they are already looking better! Just watch out so your humans don't get too stiff, think about how they rest their weight and loose up some of the men's shoulders

@ Dy.laneA Thanks a bunch for that pose site, help me out a bunch ^^
As well as for the stanchfield notes, someone else mentioned them [but I can't really go out and buy the book] So I've been reading that, half way finished~ ^___^

    So yes thank you
Wans't really getting frustrated till I started on loomis stuff, but now its not anymore, I think taking a mini break kind of helped [but now I feel liek I've been slacking since then, but at least I get something down everyday ]

@ Khanran Aww thank you! Its really nice to hear that I sem to be improving [I didn't really realize, but I guess when I go and look back I guess a have somewhat ]
Its hard for me to think in that sense, but I'm gonna try to, and hopefully one day I can grasp that concept
