Well, this is my first study thus my initiation into the crimson daggers is complete. It is a wip as the right eye (her left eye) is not rendered. I tried using techniques that hannes uses...but i couldn't figure out how to execute it as well...obviously. MANY MORE TO COME! Thanks all for the great inspiration.
Some old guy studies. My recent original work is still lacking knowledge about rendering skin and other materials, so I'll be doing a variety of skin studies and originals to try and bring it all together.
Wow. So many awesome people I am intimidated to join this thing. But it is my dream to ride the mighty Crimson thunder into oblivion. How do I get started? ( I might hide my drawings for a while though)
Eternal Apprentice, go to www.crimsondaggers.com - all of the links to everything Dagger are there. But basically hang around in Dan's stream once in a while at least to keep up on things. And register at the forums and start up a Daggers Sketchbook thread. Don't be afraid to get involved. There are all kinds of skill levels there. Forum: http://www.crimsondaggers.com/forum
Hi all, here are some things I've been working on. The first is my try at a stylized type of piece. Just trying some different stuff out. The second one is a study of the sculpture of David by Bernini.
On a side note I'm happy to hear the news that Dave and Dan are re-working the bloodsport challenges to help those of us who are still trying to improve our skills or have busy schedules. I have been wanting to do them for awhile but I think my skill set is still under-par and I'm hoping this will help me stay motivated and improve through the new Bloodsport challenges to come!
Reagarding female portraits, you should check out the zhang lu and jason manley's caucasian female protrait download. It helped me hugely and it highlights some general ideas about female beauty. And it's just 7 bucks right now 14 if you go for both volumes. Totally worth it mate.
