    NYC! What's goin on?

    Hey there,

I'm taking a trip to new York in a couple of days and I was wondering if any peoples would like to meet up an have a drink and/or draw or something? It's my first time going to new York and I'm stayin for a week and a half or so. I thought I might hit up the local artists thread but it seems to me there's no active one for ny. pm me or respond here if you might be free to hang out!

    Take care,
    whit

ps. Bringing your very own set of "hot chicks" is optional:p

Hey man, besides the moma and the met (vermeers milkmaid!),the frick, neue gallery go check out Kim cogans show at gallery Henoch, hes fucking awesome. There may be some of Dave Kassans work on the ground floor too. Thursday nights in Chelsea are good for free booze and badmouthing art. Check out Arcadia gallery in Soho ( there is also an awesome skulls and taxidermy store there called Evolution if i remember. Too bad Im not there anymore, would have been nice to drink n draw. Society of illustrators is always cool as hell too, with the jazz band sessions of multiple figure drawing in costume. Brooklyn museum has some nice Sargent and a Duveneck, some childe hassamīs and some ashcan school stuff. Not to mention the amazing Merritt chases they have there (done when he was 24 or something) oh and a boldini too.

Best city man... i miss it so much!

OMG, I never went to the Brooklyn Museum!! Shit!! Man, I was just talking about NYC in my conversation class. We had the lamest listening activity where a cop actually gives bus money to a slovak tourist. I laughed my ass off. All the students thought I was strange.

Well, I could hook you up for a night of free drinks/fights at the wreck room.

If you find something fun and affordable, you should tell me what it is, because I am seriously bad at this whole "living in nyc" thing

I couldn't sleep last night i'm so excited! i feel 9 years old again

hey timpaatkins! thanks for the info on the galleries/museums! I'm definitely going to hit them up.

gentlefood: free drinks sounds good to me man. As far as I know free drinks means you aren't that bad at the whole living in ny thing

sung-jae kim, falchion, i'm glad to hear you might be down!

sweet, well i was thinking sometime next week maybe we could meet up at a cafe/bar somewhere... What's a convenient time/place for you guys? I'm staying at a hostel on the east side by st. marks. my schedule is vague and flexible, mostly art and city wandering during the day, and finding trouble to get into at night.

Here is Alberto's blog. He's a friend of mine and they have Drink & Draw sessions in the NYC area. He talks about it in his most recent post.
    Have fun dude.
