[Love.Death.Mind] ~ Give me a reason to die.. HELP + CRIT NEEDED
Been lurking here too long...
Hello, I'm a digital arist, looking to improve myself to reach higher standards in my university. Alot of people say there's something missing, and i feel there is something missing in my drawings/paintings - I really do need some help, some direction on what to study~
I'll add more here later ~ things I have done before:

i like it.
If you work a nice greyscale in this one(good one means it will be full and no transparent strokes)Brush with opacity 100% and hard 100% with pressure
i think your greyscales are a little transparent and rough

Work more on gesture and structure, anatomy is off
keep it up there's still plenty to learn
December 13th, 2009 #13
have you tried checking out Loomis' books for anatomy? they helped me a ton when I was having trouble teaching myself stuff. for tone maybe try photo and master studies? if you really wanna improve that's all you need! just take that drive and turn it into studies

Thanks for your reply, yes I have looked and drawn a few things from the Loomis books - the anatomy can be a bit difficult to follow for me, I prefer life drawing.. currently looking at Hogarth..
My concern and aim is pencil rendering.. ~~~
What exaclty do you mean by "master studies" usually I go to the art library and read up on my favourite painters (:

What the hell
It's so grainy, I don't know if it's the pencil, the paper or me...or all three.
it's supposed to be smooth crisp lines, wtf...
Some help please

I see potential here... Keep doing anatomy studies every day and you'll see it'll do wonders for your drawings.

I have Loomis, Hogarth AND Bridgeman, studying anatomy is fun for me, but I can't just copy Loomis's drawings for example, bores me so much, I have to do something exciting...
Anyway, value study for Ryonai, I'm doing something random with it..
I don't like my strokes, doesn't look smooth or have depth....should I paint in direction of the form ...helpppp
December 26th, 2009 #22
I worked further, and I tried to paint this in colour - Idk if the values are right, but painting in colour is so DAMN HARD.
Anyway, I have to add some more random design elements and then think of a colour scheme..

Seriously going to have a break down if I had to work in grey-scale today - I just wanted to have some fun and be happy and mess with colours so i went back to this

Right, I've been so lazy, and I really need some help! I had an exam last week and coursework to hand in (I'll upload it here later) it was really bad and done in a rush within a week ...and I haven't had time to draw my own stuff... Anyway, the painting above the post , If I can get some help on that, that would be great, because my peers say it's not good or "realistic" enough and something is missing? Perhaps edges are not correct?
Anyway, random sketchbook scan - I should take my time not not scribble D:
Also, I hate ears so I haven't finished them off yet !
January 14th, 2010 #25
Just a quick sketch, I measured and measured so much and erased this out and re-drew it so many times, to get it accurate, still wasn't happening...so I just scribbled it out...
January 15th, 2010 #26
Seeing improvement there. Don't get so frustrated, I know you're impatient to get better. Only thing I'd mention is the left eye tilt is bit higher than the right, but you're prob aware.
Don't think Kaya would complain too much

Thanks Clarice I should send it to him....
Been lazy, and not so much...working on other projects, might post it later.
This is recent, this week - started off as a loose quick sketch, tidyed it up, laying down the basic values - don't really know what do from here...still not finished of course....ehhhh
February 16th, 2010 #28
