Thanks guys. mdGar - If you mean the assassin girl, it's a katara/katar:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katara_(dagger)

Ran out of time on this IOW entry but calling it done and moving onto something else. Did 5 or 6 design sketches for the surgeon/engineer's headpiece but ended up just pushing the placeholder a little further due to time contraints.

I really like that illustration you have going.
But he seem kinda short. I think the big head is what makes it seem like he is.

Trying to refine a workflow for doing environments from scratch without using sketchup or a level editor plate. I've came to the conclusion recently that if you can get a good solid line drawing in the beginning (for anything, not just environments) it saves so much pain later and usually yields much better design since you're forced to think things through. Maybe just personal preference but works for me. Anyway, couple of quickies to kick off with..

Great environment studies. This workflow seems very interesting. It does seem to be a lot more efficient than doing messy lines at first and clean up in the painting itself.

A few more, trying some different approaches. All very boring environments but not really considering the design much for these. Just getting up to speed with the actual drawing process a bit more and studing some common industrial type objects.

That's a great bunch of composition studies Vesh! Keep doing these neat studies cuz you keep giving me ideas on what I should study

btw, got my vote on the IOW dude, very awesome!!

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!

Great work! Specially all those portraits scattered through this thread. It are artists like you that make me go itchy to practice more. If only time let me.

Rob Powell: Thanks Rob, glad this stuff is some use! Ty for the vote too

    ezekrialase, jedininjaman, Overtoom: Ty!

Couple of environment studies done from a line perspective base like the ones posted above, except these were based on environments from the delicious mgs4.

Also some material studies based on some stuff from Feng Zhu's school.

Great mood and texture in the environments, the foundation established by the lines definitely payed off quite well. Love the texture studies as well, I'm gonna check out Feng Zhu's website..

Edit: Actually, you know if he's hosting on youtube? That would be unfortunate because YT is banned here >_____< I can't access any of those vids for some reason.

Thanks Continue. He does have a youtube channel, with a lot of useful info. Shame about it being banned in your country though, maybe they've been uploaded somewhere else hopefully.

Started this door design as the first in a set of industrial assets for an environment set. Needs painting and fleshing out, but got a ton of client work to do this week so not sure when I'll get back to working on this and my current obsession with specularity...

SHIT on a SHINGLE!!!! ... how far you've come... how far you've come...

the name vesh rang a bell... anyway fantastic stuff. all i can say is maybe try some radical angles or 3D perspectice drawings, stuff from wayward vantage points y'know?

    awesome sketchbook, massive improvement.

Inspiring stuff you got here man. I wish I could to this level by page 20-somthing of my sketchbook, but I have serious doubts. I could just look at your stuff all day.

Thanks! I've been working a lot on my pencils lately but haven't drawn anything big enough to be worth uploading. That last pencil character was quite a few months ago now thankfully. Will try and get some scans done shortly. For now - another wip for the c.o.w entry. Not had any time to work on this so far and the deadline is tomorrow so not sure how far it'll go. Was fun all the same.

Thanks for the feedback and comments - much appreciated. Been pretty busy but got some time today to start work on a study/entry to a local painting contest. 1000 top prize but only found out about it a week before the deadline gah. I've painted this knocker a couple of times before (*insert knockers joke here*) but hopefully this one is a little better. Still a fair way to go tho..

Decided to crop and make some minor changes to this portrait. Getting some giclee prints of this and the knocker, hope they turn out nice.

Also a few random crappy faces from imagination, nice way to unwind at midnight. My favourite is the one-eyed goat-devil-skull chap with the fu-manchu. His name is Ian.
