loving that still life! looks like you have the same spoons as me!

how did you feel after completing that still life? did you come back to it later and were like, "WHOA I DID THAT?" i do that every time i look at a still life that i've put several hours into it. i'm finding out that the more i work on a finished concept or piece of art, the more excited i am to start another one to make it even better! do more still life! i'm loving it!

@Enydimon: Definitely. I'm always stuck in the midtones uggghhh.. XD

@MattGamer: Thanks Matt! Lol yeah, I looked back at my still life post and was like "hey i love this study!". I'll definitely do more, I made a schedule for myself and today isn't still life :3 But look forward to it!

Sorry to start off a brand new page with this crappy update haha. Some anatomy from photos. I don't really know how to approach anatomy when I do it digitally for some reason. Started a new environment study. Haven't done one since page 4 I think. That's all for now :| Btw, good job to all the kitsune CHOW entries! Wish I had more time to work on it. I'm already planning something for CHOW 191 ^_^.

Hey Teapo, nice boobies-I mean ladies. One thing, the one second from the left's breasts are a little too high up on her chest, even for small ones. Everything else that I see looks good, though. Keep going!

@GoGoJojo: Thanks Jojo!! I just now noticed that haha xD

I think I like doing anatomy studies better on paper :3 I still need to work on my lines though :| Still a bit too sketchy. Not that sketchy is wrong or anything, but i'd like to make it more clean hehe.

some nude that i tried studying from a photo. i was mainly going for the colors so i didn't do any construction lines, just straight blocking in shapes with color. still trying to find my approach with these, so it doesn't look like where i want it to be atm. also, some imagination doodle i did during japanese. i bet you can tell where the inspiration came from, if not, then i failed to do this awesome artist justice xD

whoops, forgot to attach this as well. 2 composition thumbs for CHOW 191. The dog companion is in it, it's just hard to see cuz i made him so tiny xD

The left composition was inspired by my one of my all time favorite artist, Yoji Shinkawa. Therefore I had this mech idea for the junkyard golem. The right side is just something that seemed more of a 'cartoony' idea, but I like it as well :U

woo hoo! the studies are coming along good! try some pure greyscale value studies sometime. i've always heard that once you get the values down, color isn't as hard as you expect.

keep studying, great progress in just this page alone!!

@krel: Thank you very much krel :3

Here are some hand studies partly from yesterday and today. Ref'd from bridgman, a few photos, and the rest from my own hand. Some quick gestures of people while on a break between class and some value study of this photo of some nude girl on a staircase, i'll work on it some more ^-^.

Where do you find photo reference to do your anatomy studies? I like the progress you're making. Some of your paintings look a little too blobby though. As if there are blobs of paint there and they aren't really defined shapes. I sometimes have that issue too. I think to get better line quality try drawing lightly first and then gradually get darker. I know it's hard sometimes because when you get frustrated, you make darker lines. At least that's what happens with me. With your last anatomy study of the girl on the staircase, there are some odd things going on with the face. I would do a finished line drawing before you start painting. I think that'll def help you because you won't have to think about the anatomy and proportions while you paint. Hope that helps.

yesss. loving those sketches of people on your break. do that all the time. it helps so much with everything when you learn to observe! repetition and memorization are the two things that help you most in art! the more you draw something the better you can draw it. now i need to get back to drawing before i forget things! keep going!!!

@Istmin52: thanks for the helpful words Istmin! Yeah I was trying to experiment with blocking in shapes rather than drawing, otherwise I probably would do some construction lines first, and then do the overpaint. But you're right about the line quality issue as well I'll send you a PM of where I get my reference photos, but usually I just look on deviantart or google images of stock photos.

@MattGamer: thanks matt! yeah i figure it would also help me when it comes to figure drawing in my drawing class :3 but also because i love doing it wheeeeee~

okay so 2 rough environment studies, mouse tracking while drawing and some whack mma thing. lol i find this mouse tracking program really interesting, just wanted to share what the results of doing one of the environment studies while tracking. also, i notice i need to work on more contrast with that green hill environment study not sure though
