I've never liked the moleskins I've found in most shops and have always thought the paper to be a bit dodgy.

I have an a4 folio moleskine, and i find the paper to be very similar to the paper we all know and love from the pocket sized ones.

i had a a3 moleskine, it works fine as a sketchbook but the only thing i noticed though is that it loses its yellow coloring even if you erase lightly.. then you would have white spots and yellow spots on your paper that even showed through when you sketched over it.

Krato it's a sketchbook, really it should be full of coffee stains, tape, cutouts,... :p
As long as the pencilwork goes fluently and doesn't scratch in the paper I don't mind. If it gets really terrible put a layer of gesso over it, sand it down and start over.
Or get a lighter pencil and just keep drawing and trace over with a darker one when you think you can get the right linework out of it, avoiding erasing and damaging the paper.

any amount of erasing will compromise the integrity of the paper, you gotta use it sparingly. as for comparing from A5 to A3 i'm not really an authority on moleskins so i'll step out at this juncture

hmmm strange, I've got pretty much every size lying around here and the paper is exactly the same in each of them :/

I used these http://www.amazon.com/Sketch-Book-A3...ref=pd_sim_b_7 and these http://www.amazon.com/Moleskine-Sket...ref=pd_sim_b_4 and I still gotta say that i can't tell a difference concerning drawing surface. Something wrong with me??

Edit: Ooops, sorry just checked it and the "folio" ones paper is quite a lot smoother. But it's AWESOME, best paper ever!! What the fuck is wrong with you man?
