Your figure drawings are extremely impressive - nicely drawn and designed. As for critiques, I think you can benefit from working on your lighting more. You're doing a lot of value studies which is great (and you improved a lot from the first page in that regard), but I think you can benefit from focusing a bit more on lighting. Keep at it!

NickyBeats Thanks a lot, I will work on it later so hopefully there will be another update before I go to bed ;D

cgaddict Hey thanks a lot for the heads up! I'm always thinking alot about lighting but I guess I should do a lot more studies to get better. I'll keep it in mind

mike butkus thanks for looking, I'm honored ;D

Ok since my sketchbook started people often asked me about my pencil sketches and I .. well... didn't have any because I was so stuck at my wacom. The last few weeks I "tried" to become friends with my pencil again. As a nice side effect I discovered, that there is a whole awesome world outside of my little box !!! Wel... nevertheless here are some pictures. A lot from live, a little from reference and a bit imagination. For example the first sketches for my marvel vs capcom piece started as thumbnails in my book.

Great designs! Your sketches from life are looking really good too. Just keep working on your figures and you'll be fine.Study the structure of the skull more as it seems to be a weak area. Keep it up.

fantasyartist Thank you, Heads/Skulls are definitely on my list of thngs I have to improve sooner or later

Here is another update. As I'm almost finished with the rendering I decided to start with colour and paint finish the rendering after all the colour is applied. For my colour theme I will do a lot of red/blue contrast between Ryus Hadouken and Akumas Dark Hadou. I noticed that Ironman is also mostly red with blue energy from his engines and the power source on his chest. The only colour left from Ironman is yellow which is also on wolverines clothes so they kind of surround Ryu and Akuma. It sounds reasonable but maybe I'm just dead tired... good night!

Nice updates, your figure drawings are killer. Very dynamic and full of depth; Your latest painting has some incredible lighting effects, glad you focused more on values first as opposed to colors, I think you have a better image as a result from that. Great work!

NickyBeats Thanks a lot I hope you still like it when it's finished and I don't screw up

cgaddict Welcome back and thanks a lot ;D

Ok here is the finished piece and I have to move on to the next one. I decided to da a major crop because the left side of the picture was very empy and since it should be an action shot I wanted to keep most of the calm parts of my economy out of the picture. Please feel free to correct me and give my feedback on which one you liked more. ( I mean the work in progress and the finished, the second piece beneath is just a closeup).

Ok here is the cropped version and a close up shot... I noticed after I was finished with ironman that I probably was zoomed in too much

Holy toledo @ post 102. I'm diggin' the sharpness of the edges, although I have to admit that I know very little about painting, especially digitally.

I love your pencil work! Keep it up man!

You've got a nice variety of good stuff in here. And you do a good job at refining and finishing rough black and white sketches, which is something I'm still working on. No critiques at the moment, but I'll keep an eye on it!

jonone Thanks a lot man, I was planning to do a lot more foundations because I always tend to rush into every piece... hopefully I will be able to get to a picture quality like yours.

Here is my kind of finished Titen piece and some studies from today.

Your landscapes are bitchin'! The shading on the graphite ones are top notch, even if it's not complete.

The digital stuff is looking good too. Keep it up!

Here are some studies from Albert Bierstadt paintings. They are not really precisely execute but maann he has some serious implied lines going on in his work.

Woow. First thanks for checking out my sketchbook and for all the great advice, second. This is just amazing, truly amazing. I love everything, the silhouttes are really nice an I love how some of the images you post have like a start and finish procress kind of thing and at the end, everything looks amazing. The backgrounds/landscape are really nice and the original character are awesome, so are the fan-arts. Keep up the amazing work and I would like to see more of you.

fantastic stuff, thank you for stopping by my sketchbook. It really is a pleasure looking at your renders, Your environments are really are great, but still you need to get more structures in them tho, so far its all been organic nature scenes.

Mabelma Thanks man I hope you got something out of it. I'll check out your other stuff and give you some more advice if you think it was helpful.

Incinerated Thank you, that has to be Albert Bierstadts fault, he focused heavily on nature. Maybe I'll do some Sparth studies too, maybe you like them

    iven Dankschööön !

Here is another quick sketch. Saving Private Ryan without looking at too much details, shapes, comp and colour study.

Wow! I must say, some of your monsters have 3D qualities to them and those really pop out to me. Super stuff!
