I haven't participated in a while and I'm a little late to game on this one but I couldn't resist. The theme was to much fun. I just wish I had time to do more than just the Creature From the Black Lagoon like some of the amazing entries so far. Here is what I have so far. I hope to refine a little further before uploading to the finals thread.

    Crits:

Antne - I like the design but there is something about the colouring that bugs me slightly. I think part of it may be the highlights on his right arm. Too airbrushy? I like the face.
Matt B - I like the addition of the coffin closest to us but the perspective on it is off. The mummy's thighs and knees also don't look quite right. It could just be me, but his left thigh seems longer than his right.
Crass - nicely Amano-esque! I like the torso but his left leg could use some reference. The pointy boot makes it look like he's pointing his toes, which would make that leg on the long side. Also, knees don't bend sideways.
Masterpete - neat design! I like it. The fat forearms look cool but I think the inside curve is slightly too exaggerated.
Dionesiist - You still have a few days, keep working! Maybe forget the background and give the character design another go.
roseille - a bit too early to tell, although I'd watch the spread of the legs. It's good to have a solid pose and all, but he looks like he's on his way to doing the splits. Besides, it always bugs me to see a warrior standing around with his crotch exposed. It's only a matter of time before someone shoots an arrow into it.
davidjohnkeen - good job on the werewolf face and trees. The werewolf is noticeably listing to one side, though. Both his shoulders and his hips lean the same way and there isn't anything to counterbalance him on the other side, so he gives the impression of having had a few. If you measure his forearms with a pencil or a ruler, one seems significantly longer than the other. The people in the foreground need more contrast too, as they look awfully ghostly right now.
Clockworkbunny - I like the legs and feet and the garter thing is a clever idea. I think the folds of her dress need a bit more work.

    More later!

    Bride of Frankie

I had to start over and now this is the Bride, the other one hit a huge wall and I couldn't become inspired after a certain point, here's my new start.

Adam S, looking so good!! I love the additions to your piece! Tight work.
Formic Acid, I really think the style is good but maybe you could add some detail to her clothing, folds-texture, but it looks good.
TheDirtSyndicate, III love the fuck you, how dare you rip my arm off, I hear ya, great work.
Antne, your creature is looking good.
Austin, nice beginnings and can't wait to see more updates
Ruri, I like what she has on her head.
Matt B, great concept! I think his bent leg needs some work in the upper knee area, the area is light too so the knee should be a bit smaller than the front knee just take another look.
Crass, can't wait to see more progress.
    Just doing this page

Okay here's a little update. Added some ink and details. Gonna start colors tonight which has never been my strong point so wish me luck. Any feedback would be great. Some great stuff so far!

the bride. I feel i learned a lot while working on this one since I usually don't start with gray scales and then end up being confused with the whole color spectrum and fucking up the values. not sure if i can finish any of my chow paintings for this week. looks like a busy weekend. -.-

Thanks! You are right, it does look quite empty. So I made some changes
But I hope I didn't overdo it and made a clown out of her...

    Hurray, thanks

I've got a couple of crits for you, her waist seems to be a bit wide and legs a bit short and I believe a part of her left hand is missing (though I must warn you that I'm no anatomy expert), but apart from that, I really dig the punkadelic feel and her face and hair are great.

GUYS PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.

You don't have to repost your wips in the final burning thread IF you link to them. Telling me they are in this thread doesn't count. (This means you, Randis!) I need to be able to get to the wips easily rather than searching through 11 pages of thread! (It makes it easier for everyone else too.)

    Thank you very kindly!

crass, i think you can still go further!
you've got a couple days to work with, why not?
smooth out some of your rendering, clean up certain areas, zoom in on shit and add detail. thats all you gotta do.
you can also work some photoshop wizardry for finishing touches, add some texture, glows, gradients, etc.
keep at it man, i think you have a great foundation to work with.

Truly. If you zoom in on that left wolf's mouth you can add some dabs of maroon and white in there and presto! The wolf has teeth and gums. There are a lot of good details that can be suggested with just a few pixels here and there.
