Oh, I just love your animal designs.. the "earth" designs are beautiful (especially the ox, I'm an ox in the Chinese zodiac mythology ).. I love your enthusiasm for design, something I'm desperately striving for in my own work.

    Keep up the beauty. ^_^

Please, help me improve by visiting my sketchbook and kicking me in the ass! ^_^

Cool sketchbook mate. You're really putting your imagination to task!

Also the tiger study is fantastic!

Maybe a bit of colour bleed study might be useful? It shows well it post #179 but some pieces could do with a little more maybe.

    Thanks a bunch guys!

Wish I had more to show but for now this'll have to do. Took me a few hours in between freelance stuff, had a sudden urge to draw a werewolf of sorts. If I can get around to it I might still draw clothes onto him and come up with some weapon designs later.

I've been meaning to post a comment in here for ages but only just now getting round to it.

Lovely work throughout - no crits or suggestions, mostly admiration and dozens of questions, which I wont bore you with more than a couple.

Your digital colour work is incredibly smooth and detailed. Just wondering how you get that level of finish and also how long you've been studying animal anatomy for and how long it took you to get to the level you're at now?

    Cheers

    Candra

Sweron: Thanks a lot for the 5-star rating, appreciated !

Candra H: Heh, thanks! I'm not sure actually, I guess it's a combination of my working method and the brushes I use. I use a hard round brush with opacity and flow set to pen pressure, which makes for pretty smooth, soft strokes. I really couldn't tell you how much animal anatomy I've studied, lots and lots of hours, hundreds if not over a thousand, lol. I've got a reference folder with a section specifically for animals which in turn is divided into all the different families of animals (canine, feline, equine, bird, etc) and in each family-folder there have got to be 100 or so reference images complete with skeletons and muscle diagrams etc which I've all used for my studies. I'd recommend everyone to do this, it's really helpful. As for how long it took me to get to where I am now; hard to say. I started developing a particular interest for drawing when I was about 11 (because I noticed I was fairly good at it, at least better than my peers), but I didn't start getting "serious" about my improvement until I was 16-17 or so. I'm 21 now. I've always liked drawing though, even as a small kid .

Narrenzauber: Well that's a big compliment, thank you!

    -Jag: On it, heh!

    ----

Completely forgot this! This is the finished CoW entry, should have been up before the werewolf but ah, well.

A speedpainting, about 1,5 hours taken. Relaxation piece mostly and I thoroughly enjoyed creating it .

This is a speedpainting? Alright, here and there I can see the proof, but in the focus of the painting, it really doesn't look like one, more like a very detailed workd. ._.I really, really like the colours! =^.^= Is it a griffon? Or something else?

Been looking through your work so many times; time for a comment.
Just wanted to say great work! Love your understanding of anatomy, your furry animals and basically everything you draw, creature wise. Environments and characters could use a little more work sometimes.
In short: keep up the great work!

Narrenzauber: I'd say it's a phoenix, I'm not entirely sure myself though ^^. Thanks!

Harmageddon: Thanks very much! And yeah I'm aware, I should break out of my comfort zone more often, though I do thoroughly enjoy drawing humans/humanoids! Just need to do it more .

    Velocity Kendall: Heh, thanks.

Cheezah: Aw, thanks Cheeze! You're too kind .

    ---

A couple of speedpaintings for signatures I did for fun . The words were all on request.

And a.. Street. Background art for a 2D game prototype, school work. Nothing too fancy, but still spent many hours on making it and figured I'd share. Sorry for the stretch!

School assignment, the brief being a "humanoid aerial fighter" and it was finished five minutes before the deadline. Thumbnails are on the previous page.

    Lux_Aeterna: Thank you!

Lightship69: Yeah lol I've always worked this way, though this one was really close! Thanks a lot for the comment, appreciated as always!

    --

So anyway after handing it in my teacher told me that while it was good it was missing a main characteristic. I wasn't entirely sure what he meant and I didn't know what to add, remove or change without making it too busy or too clichι. So I went with a banner and changed the overall layout to something more pleasant to look at. I'm hoping it's okay like this.

Some work for a school project (making a game prototype). The first group of thumbnails was to explore different possible relationships (father and daughter, a married couple and brother and sister) and different settings. I had a lot of freedom so I tried to go in several different directions. My team preferred the jungle setting but not the characters as much, so I tried to continue to explore forms. Was a little rusty there, but eventually got to the satyrs, which my group were very enthusiastic about.

The girl thumbnail was pretty much spot-on so I didn't change much about it in the more refined sketch, which is currently being used for outfit designs and color schemes (by a different teammate). My group wasn't entirely satisfied with the guy though so I had to draw a new sketch for him. Currently awaiting their approval and/or suggestions so I can refine him as well and move on to color mock-ups for the game (which will be a 2D side scroller). We're trying to achieve a somewhat unique style for the characters, or at least an unusual one.

He'll have a weapon eventually, we just need to come up with some designs. The template is more for outfit and color designs . I'm not happy with his face but I'll rework it later.

Lhune I found your running dragon tremendously inspirational, I did a bunch of running things as a result, theyre in my book.
A lot of the look of them came from your white dragon.

Shit, really? I just saw your update yesterday I think and I remember thinking "damn, that is just awesome! Look at those badass origami mech critters!" so to learn that it was partially inspired by my work is such an honor! I love how your art reminds me every time again to think outside the box and go crazy, I mean just look at what you're creating as a result haha.

Be mindful of the planes you pull out of figures, I think your Muusha character was pretty flattened because of the way you added detail. The line work in your recent sketches looks pretty good, it shows a lot of thought.
