Well, I'm on the forums, so why not update!

This is the beginning of a very long project aimed at fully concepting a complete mock World of Warcraft dungeon. I'm a WoW nerd, so when I decided to do this I combed the books for my favorite piece of lore that could be used to create a full dungeon and hadn't already been presented in-game. I ended up picking Queen Azshara and the naga city of Nazjatar.

For those familiar with WoW, I tried to keep some of the traditional Night Elf design concepts in her armor, while still making her unique from both them and her naga. Her weapons, the Javelins of Suramar have a pretty basic description in the lore that I tried to adhere to while giving them some kind of unique design. I'll be concepting them out separately once I hit the weapon designs phase.

You're going to be so sick of tentacles by the time I'm done.

Queen Azshara, WoW, Nelfs, and all Warcraft IP is copyright Blizzard Entertainment.

Many thanks to the artists of Massive Black for their help and guidance while working on this. They are amazing teachers.

WIP for the Malestrom entrance. Still screwing with layout and such before I start going in and working on atmospheric perspective.

And just a 1 hour speedpaint experiment.

Loving those hand studies. I'm sure they'll come in handy.

Heh. I wrote that *before* realising what a terrible pun it was.

Mock you rock my world, can't wait to see how that project turns out. That last speedpaint is nice, really nice. I'm still struggling with laying down paint so fast, it takes me forever to build up form, I'm bedazzled at how you can do that in an hour. Just a couple things I'd like to point out in it... the planes of the face. You're missing the down plane on the bottom eyelids, and the nasal bone is too shallow due to the bottom plane of the nose (septum, nasal holes etc) not appearing as a large enough shadow shape. I know it's just a speedpaint but thought I might as well throw in a little bit. Just think about the skull and muscles underneath, I know you've got a good grasp on them

Benjy: Anybody who can't appreciate a good pun sucks ;P

Connor: Thanks, dude! I definitely need to work on paying closer attention to those things. Thanks for the reminder. Can't wait to see what you do once you hit school. =)

Forrest: Thanks! I have some time freed up recently, so hopefully there will be more coming up.

Natzuur: Haha, yeah. I've been slacking on the updating due to school. Hopefully that will change.

Bapsi: how is Art Center going, ladyface?

    Kidult: Thanks!

tobbA: Thanks man. It's awesome to see you in here again. =) Sorry for being the WORST sketchbook group member ever, haha.

Alex: Thanks! I really owe the MB guys and my fellow atelier students for helping me out with getting the perspective and lighting down.

    Alexson: Thanks!

    D.Aligh: =)

[ste]: Thanks man. Bridgman is a beeeeeaaast. Doing hand studies from his work has helped me insanely.

Thanks for all of the comments, guys. You all help keep me motivated. =)

WIPs of two illustrations in the works, both freelance commission work. Whooo for getting paid to paint, haha. I'm using both of these to study different lighting scenarios that I'm not accustomed to painting, and learning a hell of a lot from it. I still have to fix the hand of the chick in green, but other than that I'm mostly off to rendersville on these two for the next couple of days.
