    Unpleasant awakening...

Finally, I managed to scoop enough money to consider upgrading my hardware with a nice new tablet, but was quite surprised when I went to check and compare the prices...The one I was interested in costs about 200$, yet...If bought from a representative for my country, it costs - 430$! I could buy 2 for the price of one! I also did some calculating and found out that ALL models, regardless of the size, are TWICE as expensive here that say, in USA...I know, it`s economy at works, the rules of the market and all...but for the end user who counts every penny 3 times, one word comes to mind - unfair.

I *could* order one from there, but with the shipping, customs and everything - is it too risky?

Hummm...are we even allowed to discuss topics like this here? Am I looking at an instant ban?

Just beware of import taxes. Sometimes i've gotten burned by this here in norway, having to pay 24% taxes PLUS the customs fee, making whatever i bought a lot more expencive than just sucking it up and buying it locally. I've found that the lowest possible price in norway often matches foreign offers + 24% tax...

As an American in Europe, I get asked lots of times to buy electronics for people, when I'm visiting the states.

@ Clochette - I hate you right now...but damn, that sure is a rude awakening! LMAO

But, like seriously...I registered to eBay, went through it only to realize that most people refuse to ship worldwide...And yes, zwarrior, the thing with taxes is really something I never thought about, yet now...I don`t know, I`m not getting any wiser. Fact is, everything here is about twice as expensive than in USA (Electronics, computer games - you name it), so with out average salaries...no wonder we`re a state in deep deep sh.., erm, I mean dept.

Well, I`m not giving up! I`ll dig out EVERY damn law and rule on taxes and customs and everything. No state or law can keep me away from my brand new tablet! I`ll get legal on them, kung-fu style.

    YEA!

    puno srece
    D
