Worked on Winter today. I'm not entirely happy with her outfit since I don't really want to put much clothing on her at all. xD to explain the colour slop that is on there, though: my idea is some winter flowers and leaves tied/sewn/held together in some magical way, and then am going to frost them over. I just have to get the right placement. :|

I'm probably going to change it quite a lot, since I think the current placement is too... young?

Maybe it needs to grow on me.

Self critique: I know I especially need to get the underside of the jaw worked out, as well as the clothing and upper arm.

Arbor: I love the idea and I think making her a little older may help. Frosting the flowers over would also be a good idea or just making them a pale color might also help. Keep up the good work though!

I really need to do this.
My angle is thus: Summer,Autumn, Winter, Spring. The Seasons, in their proper order.
As one ascends the others wither. At the end of each Season's time, it passes the Crown to another. The Crown is the key. Once, it was stolen. Once, the Seasons had no power over their elements.
My entry will depict the moment Summer was called into existence, in order for the Crown to be taken.
I would like to ask : My vision of Summer is a strange glittering being with the head of a Rooster, surrounded by celestial serpents and a halo of flames. Crowned, obviously. Is this ok? Or does it need to be more humanized?...

I have been thinking for hours on which season I really wanted to start on. At first I was going to do winter but I drew nothing but blanks and then spring came to mind and beauty was the only thing that I can think of. So I thought about sketching a beautiful guy. I know it is not the best but it is a start at least. I will be pushing myself later on today to do more to him and make changes.

i cleaned up my sketch, adjusted the pose a bit, fixed some of the anatomy problems, took the sketch into illustrator and blocked out some shadows and experimented with a completely different look than what i usually do with the final product.
i might go back since i have some time and do a few more tweaks before my final post depending on the crits i get.
so have at it, crit away.

btw, i chose winter because i'm a christmas baby.

Is this any better? I think the colours are more autumnal now but I'm worried it's oversaturated! But then Autumn is full of crazy rich colours... I so confused! Also am I breaking the 3/4 rule!? I kinda figured he's half tree so I was showong 3/4 of him. May start again, new to this CHOW business and not sure if I've got the wrong end of the stick

dirtsyndicate - i think the blue of the bow is abit too attention drawing. go for black or a less saturated colour. also, maybe you wanna expand the canvas so he isn't cut off at the hoof. otherwise i really like it
    cklamb - love the colours!
