Weelow's art and sketchwork
A friend of mine here on ConceptArt, Loathsome, told me to do a thread with some of my stuff so here we go.
Hopefully I'll get more active here soon enough too.

Just something I did while watching/listening to a Crimson Dagger live stream today. It turned out okay but it could use a lot of fixing up

A portrait practice piece I did earlier today. Turned out okay but slightly different from the ref... and that nose didn't turn out too good either lmao

Photoshop painting of a Manikin bird. The only reason to why I picked this bird is because they look like they can moonwalk when they try to attract a mate haha

Something I drew during a Bobby Chiu stream

Good god this piece took forever. But it's done now.
The ref photo I used was one of the picture of the day photos on National Geographic's website.
More pictures to come

A picture I did for a contest on deviantart. The club that holds the contest was created to help people improve so I thought it was worth doing c:
I don't really like this picture too much but I am happy with all the things I learned while doing this so in that way I like it.

A quick coloured sketch I did today of a character I came up with a month ago or so

Sweet designs! That mantis looks totally kickass too, I can't say I know anything about digital painting but the colouring on the mantis looks a lot more natural than the others to me

Haha yeah I spend a whole lot of time on that one. And it's a bit easier to paint an exoskeleton than feathers and fur

Heya, liking your work so far! Keep up the studies. I have stacks of old national geogrpahics that I draw from - they are great. I pick them up from charity shops usually. Anyway keep up the good work.

Hey I really enjoy your character designs! They're fantastically whimsical but I feel they have a lot of culture and personality.
I think your painting method is kind of smudgy/airbrushed/blurry, which can make the colors muddy and the values vague. Using a harder brush at full opacity will force you to be more deliberate about every decision. Also, I think a more deliberate style will transfer well into your imaginative stuff. Keep it up.
