Update. I'm fairly close to calling it a day, not sure I want to colour it. At least not yet. Crits please!

This might be a layout thing; might also be an anatomy thing, but there's something about the crouch of the pally that needs some adjustment. It's just a gut feeling I'm getting by looking at it. The following therefore is to be taken with a grain of salt; it may be that different things are working in combination or maybe it's really just the one thing. I'll let you be the judge since you've already made this very epic scene. Here goes: the whole torso needs to come down some (as in he's leaning forward more) AND/OR his right elbow needs to come "forward" (i.e., either through the shading or the armor itself it appears to recede or draw into the body, which in this position seems awkward) AND/OR his shoulders could be a skosh farther apart, if only to make his bearing more intimidating AND/OR his arms, even taking into account the foreshortening, feel too short. Alas, I'm probably splitting hairs here, but I don't think I'd notice if it wasn't generally a really powerful piece anyway. Love it!

MasterTroglodyte: Thanks for the crit mate. I've been struggling with that. I think mainly I've been looking at it too long and need a bit of distance from the piece. too close to the project Also it's a swine to fing good ref! Though my mate has put me onto Getty Images, crap res but really good for ref

Woah that last concept sketch is really cool! The dynamics are well played! i agree though with the previous poster that the paladins shoulder should be broaden out cos it looks a little drawn in which resulted him in looking a little meek. Awesome sketch though!

Hopefully this is looking better. I through in a big old broadsword hanging from his pack... Why not I thought... But mostly because I liked the sword at his waste but thought it worked better as a short sword

Thanks guys, always great to get compliments from peeps you respect. Wish I could upload some of the stuff I'mm working on at the mo I'm pretty proud of the way it's going and am dying for someone to crit all over it! And it means I've had no time to finnish my last two pieces, hopefully I'll get time to get back on those. Though to be honest a bit of time away from a painting can be a really positive thing

Did this the other week for a pitch that didn't happen in the end. But I'm pleased with it all the same as I think my composition is finally starting to get there. I've included my process as I always find it interesting to see peoples process. Hope you like it

Right have been offline on my hols for the pst two weeks. Been working on stuff too but nothing I can show unfortunately as soon as I have something I'll upload.
