Very great stuff good compo which can tell stories!!
may i ask .. after u did a black and white painting.. how do u apply the color??
i always find putting a color layer over it make the whole thing mess up.
at the end need to re-draw everything
Nice looking pieces.
Don't know why I neglected to look through your sketchbook before, but I just did and I'm glad I did! Lots of awesome stuff in here, great work on both Cow and Chow! I like your sketching process as well, just applying hard black and white brushes to rough out the composition before building the forms and values.
Keep up the awesome, mate!
Wow so many nice comments! Thanks guys that very kind of you
brentos8: Thanks mate. This process works for me. Some peeps seems to have a very definite idea when they start especially if they begin with line work. For me I scribble a bunch of rubbish then try to carve out an image from there. I'll make quite big changes at any time right to the end of the piece until I'm happy with it. And I'm never happy with it
Rob Powell: Thanks dude! I'm really liking your output right now
cerealist: It depends sometimes I use overlay initially if I want to maintain that harch contrast. Sometimes I'll multiply the black and white layer and colour behind it. But I'll always have an addition brush layer to tidy things up. And if there's saturated lighting or spec I'll use colour dodge and one of the light option in the blending modes
NickyBeats: Thanks dude. You're making great progress yourself
Virg: Good crit makes sense to me. Love your work to dude so chuffed you've commented
Your dedication to the paint is awesome, and your improvement show's massively on how realistic your stuff is getting. You seem to be struggling with colour more than you did in the first set of paintings maybe that is next to study more of for you? Can't wait to see more brother!
I'm on page seven... Hell I have a lot to learn. I really like your process. High contrast sketch and refining, refining, refining. I'll have to give it a try.
I'll be back for the rest when I have collected my self.
I think I'm dehydrated. Gotta close my mouth.
btw. are you at mpc? (maybe it says somewhere)
My path of learning (sb)
Thanks guys you're all far too kind!
LastGen: Thanks dude! It works for me, though constantly trying to refine my technique
Lakai: Means a lot from you dude, checked out your SB the other day. Very, very cool
Tom Fenton: Actually it's only because I'm getting no time to finish the work I put on here. Am soooooooooo busy! Wish I could show you what I'm working on at the moment but client confidetiality forbids it!
Lander: Thankyou. Give it a try! Everyone has thier own style but it's good to see if someone elses methode applies well to you. No I work at Mill TV though I know quite a few peeps at MPC
haha wow great imagination for creatures and some nice rendering too - no crits from me I´m afraid, but definitely keep posting and sharing. Oh, and more pencils please!

Love that desert scorpion insectoid man, always cool to see how you sculpt stuff out like that.

Neverwhere: Yes colour is my next big journey... Been focusing on composition and storytelling for the past year, no I really want to nail the colour thing. It really can make or break a piece.
CrookedHorn: Where the fuck you been mother fucker?!
asa: Man I've got so much love for your inductrial designs! So that mean a lot!
Good stuff man!
Very nice that you keep posting those wips, it's always interesting to see how people are doing their stuff. You could try to go straight with colors also, just to see how that goes. I think you could be able to get more color variation in your pictures that way.
Your creature designs are neat, looking good! Keep it up mate.
Had a spare hour to mock something up for CHOW. Sorry for the lack of uploads, I'm soooooooooooooooooo busy
