i missed you -
these are your best yet-
really nice watercolor,
its wonderfull to see you explore so many mediums with your work and yourself.
jhibbs - oh it is nice to see you back once again all these pieces are really good they have so much energy to them i love it! i hope we get to see more of you around here soon good job on these jhibbs!!
the lady is stunningly warm and cozy.. and the other portraits are great. the one media that has always pissed me off the most is watercolor.. just not a perfectionist's friend i guess. Awesome stuff nice to see ya round - chudds
I wouldn't be that critical about watercolor. it really depends on your 'creative idea' and your technique. there are some incredibly precise images done with watercolor (not my style thoguh, but still I like watercolor and what it offers)Originally posted by chudzta

i think im gonna start posting mine in here. heres tonights, first ive done in photoshop in more than a month, i think the break to traditional only helped me get a handle on my process.
I like this one alot - light, composition, color.
way to go, friend

oils, FINALLY! havent done one since before break.... 14x16, maybe 3 hours?

heres 2 from today, a torso study in watercolor, and a picture of some odd guy i found online i had to draw, watercolor and gouche with marker on toned paper. i also edited the above oil
Jhibbs, badass, your getting better and better. That torso watercolor study is great.
ok last update on this one, im going to use it for a class so the background was lacking a bit.
your are very productive and you are good...
I like your oil painting , your shadows are frank (??) and realistes.A very true medium style even in your ps work.
Maybe ease certain details in the background for the last one for most focus.
Your work encourages me to work more ....
thanks everybody. sorry for the scarce updates, i DO them everyday but i dont always want to show them :/ ive also been working on a longer one, should be done in a few more days.
duct tape, black+ white masking tape on tan paper
another tape one, its not turning into a habit i swear :p
black tape, on my WALL
uh-oh, dead links!
haha.. the creativity.. oh sweet jesus. tape? too cool man...
Haha, I guess I'll finally post just for this one.
This is pretty awesome, jhibbs. It's even funnier in context. I think you should show it to our teacher.
"It looks like duct tape"
haha... Anyway, I think I'll go back to lurking, maybe.
Jhibbs you are good this reminds me of an artist who used to only use one piece of tape a couple of inches to create images. i wish i could remember the name... oh well... this is awesome work! keep it up!
sorry its been awhile. heres the longer one, oils.
heres what else ive been up to, alot of quicker portraits in a sketchbook i made with watercolor paper.
hey wondering where u were
love your studies and your sp especially
i love your oils ... post more
been awhile I suppose... I'm tryin
my first palette knife painting, I'll probably do more.
i really like the last couple of paintings.. great use of the knife. it really animates the surface in both. i like the self portrait especially: nice lighting and great sense of value. my only critique is for the portrait of the girl... the headband is a little distracting. its not big deal though... still a beautiful painting.
canvas or wood?
Yea I agree, I was having trouble maknig the headband read as a part of the form. Both of them are on canvas, and I'm really enjoying using the knife (these are my first two knife paintings ever) so expect to see more.
