    The root of all evil

I haven't posted in my old sketchbook for a long time, so I decided to have a fresh start, and begin a new one.

    Enjoy!

The first is a study of a painting by Dagnan Bouveret called mother of sorrow. The second one is still a work in progress. The hand underneath is from Charles Barque.

I'm currently working together with a dutch poet, which is tons of fun because it really pushes me to do really different stuff. Anyways, quickly translated for those interested:

    you have to live dangerous
    you have to live dangerous
    you have to live dangerous
    you have to live dangerous

you have to change your life

    you have to live dangerous

you have to change your life

    you have to live dangerous

    you have to change

    you have to live dangerous

The first CG painting of your last post has a strong mood, like there is something going to happen and you don't know if you if you want it or not. Overall great work, life painting in the first post of your desktop is very nice. I won't have that much patience for now to do something similar. I don't have anything to critique for now, I'll be watching your progress more often.

    Stephen, thank you very much!

Tim, bedankt!

Now, time for some more crazy things!

So how's life going? I think you should update after two months of absence.

ugh, my computer was broken so I haven't actually touched photoshop since the last time I updated (before yesterday that is). So I'm feeling a bit rusty, but here is a sketch to get back on track again.

Also I will upload a shitload of drawings one of these days, but that is something that is going to take a while because I have to a) find them in the horrible mess called my room and b) scan them.

Your sketchbook is amazing on SO many levels. You're not afraid to experiment with different things and take them to a more surreal path. Keep it up, please!

haha wow, i like your work! Your paintings have that painterly feel to them, and that's something i love seeing in a painting. Some of your subjects are also very surreal which is very cool.
Very very nice , i'll have to keep an eye on this thread xD

Thanks, that is nice to hear cannibal and witcrack

The first one is heavily inspired by a painting of Napoleon. I haven't found the link to it yet but as soon as I'll find it I'll put it up here aswell. Both are wip but I don't think I'll continue on the second one.

both look like they're doing good, but why leave the second painting? what were you trying to do?

Hello JustinBeckett, thanks. Yeah I should do and post more studies aswell. Problem is that I don't have a decent camera and most of my studies I like to do on paper that is to big for my scanner.

Cannibal, I'm leaving the second painting because I'm not satisfied with the overall look of it and don't really know where to go to with the concept. It isn't that it couldn't become something, but I would have to invest to much time fixing problems into something that will probably end not very well. I would safe far more time if I'd just started over.

    Woah

You have a beautiful variety of work
I'm actually very affected by some,
    the emotions interpreted
    from your work are intense.

    thanks for sharing your art
