It has been a while since I posted here so it's time to make this topic come back to life!
I just finished high school. I'm stunned to see that I gonna miss it in spite of having been bored as hell for 3 years. Actually I will attend an art school in Paris in September and I'm a little bit scared of it. I've been learning on my own for all my life so I'm afraid of losing my freedom.
Anyway, I've drawn a lot since the begining of holidays, a lot from mind actually. From now on I'm much more creative, I have tones of ideas but my drawings looked too cartoonish. I want them to be more realistic.
I have 3 weeks left before school' starting. Henceforth I will strive to draw and improve everyday
It gonna be fun!

Since I struggle with perspective even though I understand how it works, I did some drawings from life of my house! It was really instructive, I'll do this again tomorow:

Hey man, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. Thought I'd leave a few of my thoughts on your stuff here .
First off, you are doing quite well. You digitals especially show an understanding of how to represent form and good colour. Your pencils however don't have the same confidence and understanding showing in them. For example, in the last few perspective studies the lines are all very timid and uniform. It isn't very interesting to look at. I would recommend loosening up a bit--play with thin lines and thick lines, light lines and dark lines, and see where you can leave out lines completely. And don't be afraid to draw THROUGH things right to the vanishing point, or draw the horizon line through the buildings. If you have a few extra construction lines showing through it is okay, and in fact better. It forces you to really understand it and learn more, and the drawing will appear more three dimensional and less hesitant.
Another thing I noticed is that your observational skills are pretty good. You can copy a portrait with a good result. But when you try to do a portrait from imagination it is much weaker. This is the case with most artists, but with you it is rather obvious. This shows that you don't fully understand the forms and planes of the head. If you do a bunch of studies of skulls, and then move on to the planes of the face (Loomis, Bridgman, Asaro Head etc), then you will do much better in both observational and imaginary portraits.
Anyhow, you are doing fine right now so just keep up the hard work and you will improve

Hey there! I just went through your sketchbook, and wow, you are talented with portraits. I'd love to see more drawings of people in doing things, though, instead of just head portraits. I bet you'd do really well with that!
Thanks for the visit in my sketchbook! Some things that I notice in your last WIP, the construction of the head is a little weird. The line of the jaw in relation to the neck is off. The head might also be a little too big, especially the back of the head. The feet aren't properly grounded, they're a little out of perspective regarding the ground plane. Not too much to fix. Keep working at it!
Thanks for the crit. Indeed the neck was wrong. I'll try to improve the feet's perspective.
I think I'm better for finding correct colors. I used to struggle with that so much and it prevented me from enjoying painting. Henceforth it's more natural, and I'm so glad!
