I like your painting style, its a nice combination of tight and painterly where its needed.
I really like the character in the finished painting, though i find the background to be a bit distracting with so many bright colours in the foreground, midground and background, it competes with the character more than it should. I think that bright green patch right above the book is the most distracting for me, its glowing and calling for attention instead of the book and character.
Devil character is cool, cant wait to see him finished!

Thanks SirGreenSock. Thanks for taking the time to write those critiques, I agree with what you said. Thank you too towy

Heres my newest finished piece. Spent the night working on it till finished. I actually created most of the elements on it a long time ago but got stuck on the figure. Tonight I took it to the next level

Thats wicked! Its a nice combination of psychadelic/fractal work without getting into the cliche Alex Grey style work. I like the combination of symmetric and assymetric elements, too, keeps it interesting.

Great sketchbook you have here, I hope you do keep this one going it's looking very promising!
I love your last piece, it just all seems to fit together perfectly, and the colours you chose for it are amazing! The figure it looking greatand there is nothing major I noticed which was wrong with the anatomy, just the neck seems to be a bit thick, but it's not that noticeable. I love the blue glow you surrounded the figure with too, it just adds another element to the piece.
    Keeo up the great work

[*]I have to say that the change in direction of the energy that you are working with now really had made your art work excel... I am so impress, and being related to you makes it all that more exciting...

At one time David you were learning from me.. and now I am learing from you... but we both still have so much to learn from each other.. I am so lucky and Blessed..

Thanks SirGreenSock, Im happy you enjoy it as much as I do Alex Grey does do some deep trippy which are wonderful, I havent gotten to that area myself hehe.

    Thank you nurraymjo

Wow Thanks Spirit! I completely agree about the traps. I will pull them back some more to a better place. I still want to smooth it out in certain areas but its about finished.

Thanks Mom hehe. It helped to not know I couldnt do it while growing up. So many kids fall victim to that claim too young, typically because they are faced with what seems like impossible odds. I could never imagine to doing any of the work I loved as a kid and now im very close to that same level of understanding.

Here is a new version of the devil. Im honestly not sure when to go with this one so any ideas are welcome.

    Talking Weird Ideas are FUN

How about Satan playing FireBall (like Baseball) in a field in hell... I think it would be great and a challange to all hell... lol..

    Thanks BriAppleTree

I like the devil as a character pose rather than an illustration. Ive been thinking about making him a super villain. One whos skin is naturally red and he has the power of fire like the human torch. He took on the persona as the devil to a more theatrical degree rather than an evil Lucifer. I think he is having fun with the gimmick but instilling fear into people none the less.

Heres a new one I did based on an old drawing I had. Its an amanita muscaria mushroom, famously shown in mario. Its actually the basis for Christmas, easter, the holy grail, and was historically used by vikings to give them brute strength. Wonderfully interested to look into.

I love the subtle energy in all of your work. Its something that is incorporated in to your sense of style with light... and something you should never (knowingly) change.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I have been taking time to study a lot more. Comments on my work have helped me to realize how much more i can grow and thus I realize how much there out there to learn. I spent the money and bought a 1 yer subscription to www.thegnomonworkshop.com . Its already teaching me so much! I hope the new found knowledge shows in my future work.

I am learning how to use painter right now from Ryan Church, heres an image of my brush experimenting. It actually turned out pretty cool so I thought I would share.

I spent the day learning some color theory. i have the feeling im gonna watch the same video on the subject about 20 times before i really begin to understand it. I started this one today and Im pretty amazed at how far i got with it in one day. Let me know what you think.
