    Hey Sycra
That was totally a long dump!!!
Awesome to see how you've compiled everything so purposely! Man, you must have a tidy, well organized studio! I've learned a valuable lesson, by going through your dump! (that doesn't sound good )
Anyway, looks like you've bin gettin creative with your sketches.

These value studies are lookin really good man, love this latest one(though he looks kinda short, but that's not important), and those ladies from imagination look great!
    Keep up the awesomenessity!

Hey, Sycra, thanks for dropping by my sketchbook.

The problem with massive dumps is that there is just too much stuff to look over to have an efficient critique, I'll stop and look at a few things that catch my eye but just keep scrolling over most of it.
It's a shame, because there's something in your traditional work that you don't quite have in your digital. I think it's the edge quality (something I could work on myself.)
Looking at the body builder, the shadow the falls on his shoulder has a very sharp edge, which it shouldn't, while his face, which should be the focal point, is rather "fuzzy."

Thanks for dropping by my sketch book : ) Really like your observed figure drawings, and the skin tones in your post from November 10th 2011 are solid. Keep with it.

Hi! Now that's a sketchbook dump. Really cool stuff through out...love the portraits and such but especially "the crazier the better" ones where you totally pushed extremes!! Like the guy with another head coming out of his mouth. Wonderfully out there schtuff!

Sometimes I think if we weren't artists they lock us all up. (and maybe they should)

Nice digital value study above and the portrait right after my last visit is quite tasty too!

Thanks fer sharing and keep the good work coming!

jsn- Oh yeah, you're right about my last value study. He is indeed too short. The reference photo has him being short, but I went too far with it. Thanks!
Hamsta- Hmm, good point. Yeah, I thought in the ref the line is quite sharp, but you're right about the face needing more detail. I really gotta pay more attention to the important things! Thank you!!
    maths82-Thanks a lot!
Jephyr X- I think some of us DO get locked up! You just never hear about those guys... Wonder what kind of art is done in some mental institution's walls...

Thought I'd post the ref I used for last image since it came up twice, and also a self portrait I did for this YouTube blabfest I had which you can see here if you want: Poop

Sweet stuff Sycra, Portraits are Super awesome, especially Forest Whitaker, you nailed that expression/stare he has in his movies.
That life drawing captured me for awhile, couldn't stop looking at it. I would start making your portraits more crisp, take time, unless your style is intentionally doing that.
work on the poses in some of your scenarios like the figure hiding behind the rock, more loose, and fluid, Vilppu's has great lessons for that.

Yeah...that's where I do my best work!

I'm reading Van Gogh - The Life. Man...that guy had a ROUGH life!! I'm 400 pages into a 900 page book and most of it has been fascinating but really sad. I respect his art more now than ever.

    ------------

Your self portrait/caricature is great. Gotta love that expression.

Watching the vid right now and watched the "guide to gesture drawing" video earlier today. High quality...well done on both. Thanks for subbing back over there!

I'll reply more over in my sb sometime soon.

    Ciao fer now

    Jephyr

KrispyKream- Hey, thanks for visiting my sketchbook. I haven't seen the Vilppu videos you're mentioning, although I have seen a lot of his vids... Do you remember what the specific video is called?
Jephyr X- Hey man, thanks for dropping by! It's cool seeing you on YouTube too.

Here's a caricature portrait.... I forgot how much more challenging it is to caricature females...

bobmeatbag- lol, that's always a bittersweet compliment. Anyway, I was totally inspired by your recent vehicle sketches and wanted to try my hand at it too. So this posts for you buddy!

oh and there's also a shitty value study and a concept art type sketch thing.

Egg0- Your English is totally fine.

So here's a chicken study, a crappy spiderman shit thing, and a caricature in progress of Dan and Dave of the Crimson Daggers.

These exaggerated studies in the last few pages are highly awesome. I like the figures a lot -- you seem to get right to the heart of what defines the image.

man your studies make me feel so lazy. All I have to show for at the end of the day are a few measly drawings and some barely updated paintings.

    Heya,

Yer Dan and Dave caricatures are very cool! And the grey scale hottie there is very nicely done!

Extreme Spidy is super distorted and tasty...love it!

And even though you claim its a toss off I like this guy too.

    Ciao fer now
