    I've just won a Wacom!

    Yeh me!

It was an A5 intuos 3 - my local computer shop had a load of the new #4s in and held a raffle to give away the last few intuos 3 tablets away and i won an A5!!

So chuffed. Decided to really start to draw again, havent done it for years but I have a new weapon to use and am determined to get back into it so i signed up to join this forum.

So what's first? Open a sketchbook? hehe

tbh i'll probably just play with all the smiles for a bit:

    <-- Awesome!

    <-- wtf!

yea. and draw on paper from time to time. youknowwhat maybe work on paper for the next few months and THEN eventually use the tablet. it all depends on how serious you are about art.

its obvious that i'm jealous, isnt it?

but no.. srsly, its easier to start on paper

You managed to kill a wacom, What did you do to it?

Mine has been accidentally used as beermat, ashtray and crashmat for years and still works perfectly.

Take it to the local electronics guy, you probably just yanked the cable and it needs $10 worth of soldering..

    HOW?

Seriously man, mine have been abused. ?

I haven't driven trucks over them but they've been stood on, fallen on, dropped, beerspills, all fine.

The most damage I've seen was from MrsFlake playing tetris and chuzzle on them, there is now a perfect grid scratched into the surface..

I just about wore a hole in the first one I had, and the wire came loose, but that's about it... I guess I'm not using them like body armour, like Randis seems to be

how can anybody kill a wacom? I've had my oversize intuos 2 fr about 9 years now and after all the abuse its been through it still works like a charm.

did you use it for target practice, or do you simply tend to smash your digital drawing peripherals as a celebration to the gods after you have finished a row of paintings?

    Oh.. and red: congrats!

    @ Ookchk
    Basically the same...
My first ever tablet had literally a hole in the middle...
I have a bad habit (also with natural media) by pressing a tad to hard...
other than that i treat em well.

Can never go wrong with wacom.

Considering i now treat my Intuos4 pen as though it's made of cheese crackers when i press down and it still wears pretty darn quickly....

how many nibs do you go through, Randis? Per day

I'm using the one with the spring/feather atm (spring nib). Personally, i really don't feel any major differences between the three. I think the black ones are supposed to be the default ones and the white ones are supposed to be feldt-tip (filtz-stift) imitations...might be the other way around, dunno .

My spring nib is starting to resemble a toothpick -_-.

i am sure you meant the white ones are the default nibs.

The black one is the freddie krueger imitation

    Well, it's a bit confusing.

In the european wacom store, the "default" nibs are black.

In the american they are white.

So, we europeans getting some kind of ghetto deal? . Wouldn't be the first time, i suppose. Me, i'm rather enjoying the flex nib atm. Though i'm not going to pay double to get replacement flexies.
