    BADGERS! - Ongoing Personal Project

Hey everyone, I had meant to post these earlier but Team CHOW stole my attention for a bit. These designs are part of a little project I've been bouncing around in my head. And after being inspired by the Jason Chan archetype downloads, I wanted to try my hand at a few myself. I plan to keep adding to the project from time to time, but wanted to get these out there for the time being.

Please excuse the girth of the images, anything smaller was starting to lose off certain details. And as always, feedback is greatly welcome!

Great stuff. Quite a lot of character in your characters.

    But... badgers?

All this time I thought it was budgies. "We don't need no stinking budgies."

These are great designs. Kinda reminds me of Team Fortress 2 character classes. Very cool rendering.

Absolutely lovely. Wonderfully excecuted with a strong techniqe. Very clear designs without being explicitly obvious, and as a group they complement each other. Good silhouettes and strong traits. Awesomely cool vehicle. As far as realism goes, I think this is top notch. If I could give a suggestion it would be that maybe you could push the colours a bit further. I kinda get the feel that they were done in greyscale first, and then coloured. Highly personal opinon though =)

    I´m severely impressed. Hats off.

    No pain, no gain.

Thank you for the kind words and suggestions everyone! I have some more ideas for this and plan on setting aside time this weekend to get started on them.

aaro_n: I used 3dsmax for the block-in on the vehicle. We use Sketchup at work and really like it, but there are some things I don't know how to do in it (or as quickly as I know how to do them in max, at any rate). Probably just a lack of knowledge on my part.

SlowDaddie: They definitely served as inspiration, among many other things

3bleadpencil: My process was kind of broken for the vehiclet. Since it was a personal piece, my sketches were extremly rough.. just enough to get a basic idea. I ended up changing quite a bit in the modeling phase as I began to play around with the shapes in 3d. For the next ones I'm going to be more thorough with my process so I have more steps to show in the end.

kaktuzlime: Yep, I did them in grayscale first before taking them into color and it shows. I'll try to play more with color shifts and bounced light on the next ones.

trevor: I learned it by watching you.

Awesome characters, and superbly executed. Somebody mentioned Team Fortress 2 - I could definitely see these characters in some kind of multiplayer class-based shooter. Really cool stuff.

Beautiful work Twitch, one suggestion on the last fellow, more grease and in certain spots: anywhere there is a pocket entry will be pretty soiled from constantly reaching in and out with dirty hands, thighs will be heavily greased from wiping his hands on the front of his pants, smudge marks on his face from wiping sweat, and random shaped marks on his chest from leaning over greasy machine parts.
