Did anyone get stuck to their seat by Derren Brown?

Just watched Derren Brown's Event on channel 4.

I didn't get stuck to my seat (neither did my family) but my feet did feel numb and really heavy.

    Did anyone get properly stuck?

Well I have recorded it to watch later, but there have been mixed reactions! Some of my friends said they were stuck, others said they were affected like you were, whereas the rest said it didn't work at all. Very strange!

He's an illusionist / entertainer here in the UK.

In this weeks show he played an hypnotic video that would leave you unable to move out of your seat.

I didn't bother with it. A person I know was left stuck, though.

in america, we dont need a hypnotist to get stuck to our chairs because we are too obese to get up anyway.

I got stuck to my seat whilst the video was playing, but once it finished, I was fine. My housemate however, got up and then collapsed because his legs went dead.

too scared to watch the video, as I'm home alone and what if there were a fire. But I wonder if this could be used in my teaching? Any thoughts?

I didn't get the chance to see this phenomenon.

But I'm always stuck to my seat 0.o.....until I get up again.

I'll bet someone's shoe, the people that were stuck in their seat, are the same people that think WWE Wrestling is real. And David Blaine is a sorcerer.

If it did happen to anyone it was just the desire to conform. It's like when Uri Geller broadcast his spoonbending craziness and thousands of people rang in to say the spoons they were holding had bent. Some were lying or having a laugh, sure, but primarily people wanted to be a part of the event and so convinced themselves that something had actually happened. Simply a subconscious desire for social conformity. That's why Derren said that the film "will have no effect if viewed on the internet". Which is true, because it didn't have any effect on the TV either, it was the event itself that caused people to fool themselves into believing something had happened.

I did like the first part of the prog though, when the woman consistently picked the wrong number from the cards & the backs of the volunteers' shirts.

I was looking at his book of charicatures in the shop the other day and nearly bought it. Whether that was the result of some mind control experiment I don't know!

Usually those are signs of high quantities of alcohol being consumed , happened more then once to me , and the only seat that i got stuck to was the toilet seat , sometimes with my face , all night ...

    Advisory: don't mix alcohol kids

During the course of the programme he claimed that the subliminal elements of the video would only work at broadcast qaulity video, so anybody watching online low-rez video wouldnt experience the same effect.

He's an illusionist, I didnt get stuck to my seat and nor did my fiancee. That's because he's an illusionist. People who did get stuck to their seats are stooopid. It's all to do with the way he instructed people position themselves in preparation for viewing: Back straight, Feet flat, hands falt on lap, you can't stand up with or without watching a pretend subliminal video or not.
