Some old digital drawings, some new

Lots of these are old, and they were just messing around with Photoshop or even GIMP (which is even farther back). Nothing special. I didn't even have a Wacom tablet back then.

This one, in spite of all the lines in it, wasn't done with a tablet, but with a normal mouse on Photoshop. I know, it's lame, but I had fun with it.

I made this one in five minutes, but I didn't use hard brushes; I textured the rock with the pointy/bristly brushes that you find on PS. Still, in spite of cheating, I've never been able to replicate the rocky texture as well as I made it here. Sadly enough, this is probably the most realistic painting I've ever made. :/

This is a bit more recent. It was done on Corel Painter Essentials with my Bamboo (which I swapped for an Intuos 4). Never finished it.

This one was also with the help of a tablet. But as you can see, apart from looking cartoony, there are many "factual errors".

    These are basically miscellaneous paintings.

This one is actually an illustration for something. As part of a story I'm writing for my enjoyment, a group of adventurers accidentally discover a spiral staircase into a vast underground chamber, and at the bottom they find a kiosk of some sort - an ancient computer. It's supposed to look similar to an altar and have a screen in the center with a keyboard next to it.

And this one I made just now. I laughed when I looked at it at the end. My sister is afraid of snails, so one time I sent her a text message saying, "At 11:45 tonight a giant snail will appear by your bed and eat you if you do not forward this to ten people before bedtime." She didn't like it. So I decided to illustrate it. Like most of my paintings, it looks cartoony, but I had fun with it. And best of all, when my sister gets on the computer, that picture'll be on her desktop background.

Anyhow, I think one of my larger problems is the inability to do textures of any sort. I can't make realistic wood, snail skin, walls, rocks, or anything that's textured. If I could figure out how to do that, my pictures would be that much better.

So, brethren, any thoughts for the paintings of a newb?

Bump. Sorry, but my sketchbook would have been lost in the outer reaches of cyberspace if I hadn't.
