Haha, dude your DBZ comic is hilarious! And I have to say, your anatomy is great dude. I can see crazy improvements with your painting/colors as well. I think since your anatomical knowledge is totally there, I would love to see some more animated poses with your figures. I've been trying to do this more as well, since I instantly go for a straight-on pose for my drawings. For instance, I love your Hulk, great musculature, but if you continued drawing his arms beyond the frame, his pose would be like he's super annoyed, rather than filled with a limitless burning rage, you know? Great SB man!
Gutsworth - hey thanks a bunch dude!! really appreciate it! haha yea those god damn robot poses!! ARGH! I do them ALL THE TIME! its my instant go to sketch if I cant think of anything interesting, which is apparently all the time haha. comic stuff usually forces me to think outside the box so I do really like doing stuff like that, so maybe ill do a few pages of an action sequence or continued fight scene so that I have to draw out figures in dynamic poses. hmmm maybe ill do that now haha. thanks man!
hehe... the majin buu sketch is funny! Maybe you could take a closer look on dave rapozas portraits. Its interesting, how he uses a 2 or 3 point lighting scenario to create his awesome character portraits. (Key- Ambient- and Backlight)) Especially his TMNT portraits are a great example. Would be really cool to see your work rendered in a similar way. Try also to understand, how many details the focal point of the portrais has compared to the not so important areas. They are more blurred. Keep up the great work!!
Marcelloo - thanks man!! that's a big thing I really need to start focusing on more, is lighting set ups! I hardly ever pre plan anything out like that until much later on, but usually just rely on some boring top down, overhead generic light source... ill take a closer look at Daves stuff, and try to rework that one some more, thanks for dropping by again dude! really appreciate it!
Nice stuff, dude. You've improved quite a lot. That Maijin Buu painting is kick ass! Just a crit, on your "no ref chicky sketch" the breasts unnaturally large, but that's ok if you wanna do it, but if you do that there wouldn't be that much space between the breasts. Also look out for the shoulder:hip ratio on females. The hips are generally larger. Nice studies. Post some more, dude.
Lostcookie - you complimenting my linework?? wow thank you a ton dude!! your lines are where ive set my bar! very high I might add! keep up the great work dude! and thanks for dropping by!
Robert.B - hey bud!! thanks man, I really appreciate the visit! I was just going through your latest stuff too, great to see you doing some 2D stuff again! that project of yours is sure looking purrty!!
zou - haha thank you zou!! I feel pleasure everytime I see you posting in here! so big thanks!
hey guys and gals! been a while! I have been doing tons of traditional sketching, but haven't scanned anything in yet, so until I do here is just a Blind Orc sketch I did last night.
your characters are awesome bro very energetic strokes. I think I like your line sketches with shading and color underneath rather than just all painterly, it makes them seem more comic book especially with the exaggerated expressions and pose. The hulking dude ripping a man in half was great and I can totally see that one of the skull and crossbones being a metal poster.
your banging out sketchies like no tomorrow, keep killin it guy.
