Hey mate, love the CHOW piece. It's reading very well atm, I think that the focus is definatly on the mutant now. Can't wait to see how you progress with it.

    Keep updating mate.

Always looking for feedback, so feel free to stop by any of these, cheers.

Man bro, you work like a beast! Constant updates!!

I think your work is definitely reading better now that you're thinking about light sources; with that being said I feel like on that last CHOW wip you should bump up the levels on the image as a whole, rather than have the shadow areas black, otherwise you cant add color, or value to them 'cause they're black, ya know? Look at some of Zhaoming Wu's work if you haven't already (http://www.zhaomingwu.com/) and check out his figures. Take screencaps of his images and grayscale em, he usually sticks to his darkest dark being like 20 percent gray or something. It really adds an atmospheric effect when the shade is not so dark yet really saturated in colors. I've been struggling a lot with classifying values lately and I feel like checking his work out really helped.

Hope I was clear in my explanation, can't wait to see more stuff! And I really appreciate you stopping by my book regularly man!

edit: And no, the woman with the large boobs wasn't from life...I WISH haha! But I guess I should be thankful that our models don't crabwalk lolol

    cool start, you're definitely improving!

Hands sort of jumped out at me as a weak point, you could push your characters so much further if you practiced them more. and i find that your line quality gets pretty hesitant sometimes, you tend to avoid committing to a single, expressive line for anything. this would make your drawings, particularly your poses, a lot stronger and easier to read.

those are all things that'll come with practice tho, i'd just recommend a few studies in those areas and you'll be fine

Chow's looking good man. You can really tell something has gone horribly wrong here.

On the crit side, the perspective bothers me a bit. Is the experiment being lifted into a 45 degree angle? Another thing is that everything is sort of in the middle ground which flattens the image. Putting the scientist more into foreground (and shadow) might give the image more depth. At the same time you could make the subject bit larger on the canvas to really get us focused on it instead of the bootys (Which are very nice though, don't get me wrong here )

Really hope you finish this one man.

AlexTooth - thanks man, glad ya dig!!

NeonDuck - thanks man! and yea, i am gonna do some hand studies now actually. good call dude.

    Medusoid - haha thanks man.

ismo - thanks man, yes the operating table is currently slanted at an angle, the people looking on in the scene are the lead scientist, and his sexy assistants, and he is showing the effects of his testing to a commanding officer. i think im gonna keep it at the same size for now, but i did drop the foreground into a bluish shadow. hopefully that helps to focus on the mutant.

    -------

i may do some more fiddling on this, but for now im gonna call it pretty much done.

Love it man, I was a little worried about all the dark for a while there but you have pulled it out the bag beautifully my friend. The anatomy and poses of those foreground figures is great, the male doctor especially. You can really tell you put the time in, and I love the lighting on the 'thing', with the orange it almost looks like heat lamps or something, like it's being tortured.
I think my favourite thing though is the actual concept itself, you've come out with a real nice character design, then found an awesome way of showcasing it illustratively* (* no idea if that's a word, if not I trademark that shit!)

Boo fucking yaa, got my vote

Really enjoyed the latest posts, that Chow has some challenging perspective and lighting in there, good stuff so far. Had a chance to read a little of the feedback for it, I won't rehash anything because it's all been covered and well said already. Cool little B/W sketches too...
    Great progress

Hey! Great work since the last time I commented (I always lurk around here but never comment )

I have a few suggestions that might help you improve.

First, I think that you are improving a lot in your painting but they lack a realistic atmosphere to them. I think some colors are not as vibrant as they could be. I think that you would greatly benefit from is doing still lifes or just painting from what you see around you. If you have the resources you should try getting a better foundation in traditional painting as it would help you with color picking and be thoughtful about your brushwork. Gouache is a wonderful, cheap and easy medium, for example.

A quick suggestion on that CHOW, even though its already done, is that the light on the monster is really strong but it doesnt seem to be bouncing and hitting the scientists. Maybe a rim light or something like that could help you bring everything together.

    Good luck!

Very cool man, this wip looks great. That guns a little big though(unless your going for that)
Oh btw, dunno if you've thought of this, but I have recently found that using video games to practice from is really helpful for perspective and such. Like uncharted or assassin's creed, you can angel the camera and get the guy how you want and then reference the shot
