Your work is looking better and better by the day. It's honestly a pleasure visiting this sketchbook.

You still need to look into your light source, though. You just have this natural tendency of sculpting your forms based on a sort of diffused, all-pervasive lighting. Do look into that, man. A primary light source can really push your work to the next level.

    Keep the work coming, Nick.

Hey man, thanks for your post in my sb! Good to hear I'm not alone (sad to hear you have the problem too ) I haven't come up with any solutions yet.. but I'll let you know once I start exploring it more.

However, I think a good start is to really set up steps for the piece one is working on, and make up a plan one it's okay to start rendering. Depending on how you start the piece (linework, shapes, silhouette etc.)

Cleaning up a linework could for instance be a very early step, but already there it's good to be done with the details as opposed to rendering with brushstrokes where I think it's good to wait with the smaller details until some key fundaments are established (strong silhouette, shapes read well, lightsource established, colourscheme established)

I think it all comes down to having a strong process that works for you that really helps you finish your art with confidence and trust!.. something I have trouble with

Feel free to hit me with a pm if you wanna share some experiences! or discuss something else

    rock on!

DefiledVisions - yea, i feel like thats the point i usually start having trouble, is right after the finished line work. when i start to actually paint, then it all goes to hell. because i start blocking in shapes/lighting/values stuff like that, and i get sloppier and sloppier. i guess ill just keep working at it, but thanks a bunch for replying, and stopping in.

Veshkau - thanks man! will do!

Medusoid - yea, vehicles and me do not get along well haha.

    -------------

i got a cool paint over on one of my older sketches by Koshime over at IFX, and he has pointed out what alot of others have said to me, but im horrible at listening, that i never really pay attention to light sources, and my images almost always never have a really defined light source. so im trying to work on that at the moment.

Keep going and post more often! Remember - the most important thing about your design is the silhouette. Make sure it reads and looks cool.

Nick E. Beats, always busy updating his book.., you're leaving me in the dust dude! Lots of solid things to comment on, but i really like what you did on the last page with the quick dynamic comic figures! Also, Is it going to take another power outage to get you to share some more traditional sketchbook work ? Heheh.

But yeah, good stuff! Keep up the hard work amigo~
