    Using Color Effectively & Critiquing

    Hi all,

Do you have any favorite books that explain both color theory (the wheel, triads, etc.) and the more subjective side of it? For example, why would someone pick a mostly cool, desaturated palette? What emotions do different palettes communicate?

I'll add any good ones to the Artist's Reading List sticky thread.

The reason I ask is that I've been doing a series of in-depth critiques and feel I'm weak in commenting on the color palettes. I'd like to find a good resource to shore that up. Here's a link to the current analysis:

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Scott McD.

Take a look at my series of in-depth critiques, like this one of Salvador Dali's hidden portrait of Lincoln.
