    Norris' Sketchbook

    Hi Guys,

Been browsing this site for a month or so now, and thought I'd better actually get some work done and uploaded to here, as there are some great artists, and i am hoping that some will crit my work and i can get better!

I like all sorts of styles, and try and be a little versatile, but am probably not!

I am at work at the moment, so will get some stuff uploaded when i get home from night shifts!

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

    Cheers
    Norris

    OK,

So finally getting my work stuff sorted, and this is a piece i found on the computer, and I am in the middle of photographing the rest, so will get it up ASAP.

Let me know what you think ... this was just a doodle done at work, then played wih in Photoshop ... not a lot done to it to be honest. Ill post the original if your interested.

    Cheers
    Norris

OK, so here is the first lot of artwork that i could find around the house ... although I am missing a load ... and still trying to track that down ... but let me know what you think ... most of this is from when I was about 16-18.

The ladies are done from when i attended life drawing classes ... and looking forward to going again soon!

    Cheers

    UPDATE!

Ok, so here is an update of some sketches I have been doing from reference lately whilst ive been for ever at work it seems!

The first one is of some lips and nose practice I was doing, that I hink went a little wrong.

The second one was just me doodeling, and trying to get some face practice ... as i really need it!

Third is a female study in movement, or posed ... not su which yet! He he he

Fourth is a female v male study of the back.
Penultimately is another male study and lastly more male studies, which the side on curled up one the shading is all wrong ... i know! He he he
First two are in good old biro, and the rest are pencil.

Crits and commets always welcome, and thanks for stopping by!

    Cheers
    Norrs

yay studies. i love seeing these. ;]

as for the female vs. male study, the female hips are higher and much different than the males.

i would recommend you read and then copy/study Andrew Loomis' "Figure Drawing for All Its Worth" here and the Heads and Hands one is great too! if you want them in pdf, i'm sure you can find them via google.

it has helped me learn a lot about the figure and think in different ways than if i were doing it on my own. any Andrew Loomis book is worth your time :]

    keep workin hard! ;]

Sorry for not updating in a while, life sometimes gets in the way.

Well, two weeks worth of life drawing classes, and haven't had much time otherwise, so here are some crappy sketches i did at work!

The first one is a 30 min.
Second and third are some overlap pictures i tried.
The first two male ones were meant to be done like tetris, were you fit the pics in as well as you can on two sheets!
Then the last male is of a 35 min pose.

    Cheers
    Norris

Congratulations you've been working hard, but I think the main issue you should take care is gesture, you're not scratching enough. If you haven't solve that you'll be committing the same mistakes that I am.

Hey hey Norris, Finally getting around to visiting your sketch book! Liking what I see too, especially in the post you made with the eyes there. It's where I think I see the most improvement and I reckon it's because you've thrown in some straighter lines, rather than making everything all soft and round like in some of your previous stuff. I think that's a big thing, is to find your confidence with making some stronger angles and that will define your work more. Nice work though
