Doing awesome man, not really much lowly me can suggest. I really like the personality of your characters, I prefer the cuter stuff heh Keep up practising your anatomy and colour practise!

I've been away for a really long time, sorry!

There are 3 reasons for that.
    1. I've been in a minecraft coma for a week and a half because I had no motivation for doing any art at all which is really depressing and I hate it.
    2. I've done studies that I feel isn't worth showing anyone (anatomy, figures) and I'm mostly doing that stuff now days cause it's something I really need to work on.
    3. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my art, I've been trying to figure out where it's going because I feel like I haven't even taken notice and I've gone on autopilot. I realized that I've been taking up a lot of vibrant, upbeat and anime-ish styles. So my art is heading that way (no I'm not going anime).

Sorry for an update without art. I don't think I'll be posting anything in a while. Posting on CA and other places has turned into a chore, like I'm expected to do it and it pressures me negatively at the moment.

I'll be back when I feel better about this situation.

    Cheers!

Good luck Conny! sad to hear about the creative dryperiod you're going through.

Posting on CA and other places has turned into a chore, like I'm expected to do it and it pressures me negatively at the moment.
I'm feeling a bit the same at the moment.. I'm sure you'll be back man! you will find all the answers within yourself take your time my friend, remember why you started painting! find your way back to the original thrill of doing art!

    take care!

    Thanks guys!

I've been too lazy to scan anything so here's some crap. They are not in order by any means, I'm just throwing all shit in here. Scanning feels like such a waste of time, I could be studying... also, this isn't all I've been doing I have heaaaps more but I don't want to spend too much time taking pictures..

    Shall do Tack!

    ..

I wish I got more done today, some other shit had to be taken care of and it totally got in the way for the studies. I wanted to a lot more hands, feet and a bunch more figures.
Got to keep working on that anatomy, it drives me crazy.

anatomy, some hands.. the anatomy is notes from the villpu videos

    figures

    hands

Some dude and shitty poses. Going to keep working on the figure and anatomy stuff for a bit longer before doing anything else. I feel like I need to do a lot more figure drawing and repeat from imagination.

Can I steal your Intuos please? =) Jus kidding =) One of your best drawings I like so far is the 'girl who looks like she's farting' =) It's got a nice form tbh =) The drawings on your last page all look really nice, I prefer them to some of the previous studies tbh. Keep drawing like that imho. =)

    Hello Conny

Some suggestions for the recent piece:

You titled the video as "fire demon kid," but I don't think he's "kid-ish" enough. Lowering some facial features and making the nose a bit smaller might help. I'm also thinking lessening the definition on his cheeks so he won't look so chiseled and manly. For the torso, I think it looks pretty kid-ish, but you might want to narrow the shoulders a bit to give him a more youthful look.

One thing that really bothers me is the pair of legs. When you have legs like those, the long segment that connects to the rest of the foot is an elongation of the tarsus/metatarsal bones, so you won't get that prominent bone projections like the one from the fibula/tibia. But the bigger issue is the size of the kid's quads; they look incapable of lifting up the rest of the lower limbs for extended periods of time.

Attached is some of my suggestions:

(PS if you want me to remove the image, just hit me up and I'll take it down so it won't pollute your body of works)

fishysmell: I haven't been drawing enough kids, been having problems with that for a while. When drawing adults all the time, it sadly end up being the bi-effect D:
Thanks for the draw over! And, I don't mean to sound like an asshole when I say this but: Mind not sounding like a scientist when explaining the flaws? I don't get anything of what you just said. If it wasn't for the image (which is awesome) I wouldn't get anything out of that. Like most artists, I don't spend time learning the terms and stuff.. I just learn how things look and then I draw.

Btw I always seem to forget to put the butt in there, lol. It usually falls out, this recent sketch has the same problem, looking at it now.
edit: made some adjustments, I probably won't touch it too much more though I need to get moving to other pieces http://www.connyart.com/search/label/portfolio

    --

Oh hey look, a complete shit painting I gave up on!
It's a good thing though because I just realized I need to spend more time painting figures. Haven't done that recently.

    Here's the sketch

Terraria 1.1 comes out tomorrow so I'll be completely geeky over it for a bit :B I will keep up the studies but I probably won't be doing much else tomorrow. Man I really need to keep track on myself so I don't fall into addiction again.

Wow, great sketchbook, you've put in a lot of work and it shows. Love how you handle color especially since it's always been one of my biggest struggles. That step-by-step of that sprout creature was very helpful. Thanks for sharing your brushes and ref folder as well!

    Here something I made today.
Pedobear. Done in 1.5 hours. Dunno how I feel about the final result but it was fun to paint.
I think it looks a bit messy and I dunno why I put the lines there, I was going for a texture in the clothing but I should have done it by hand.

I also got a new scanner so I'll scan some shit later.

Thank you for the feedback bro, I answered in my sketchy, but here in case, first page from ref, second page is a mix of ref and imagi, and the third page is imagi =) Yip, structure is my weakest thing, will keep practicing until it gets waaay better =)

Pedobear looks a bit stoned, lull, hope you don't mind me saying that =) He's cute tho =) I love your colours, they are very fun to look at and I like how clean it is =) Some feedback, if you wanna push it a bit further would maybe take a small brush and paint the fur by hand, it sounds boring but it can be fun varying the colours as you go =) Keep up the nice painting bro, I like how you are still keeping up with your studies =) Looking forward to some pencil =)
