some longer 20 minute poses...
Last edited by Ntropii; September 8th, 2009 at 12:59 PM. Reason: fuzzy image
I love the last pose from yesterday, of the woman squatting like that. Lots of good movement in it, very nicely done for a quick sketch.
I think your apple is nicely rendered towards the bottom, and with the ambiant light of the area around it. It gets a little fuzzy when it gets to the direct lightsource, but regardless, good work.

Thanks Bomber, I really enjoy doing short quick sketches. Thus the need for me to spend some time improving my rendering. I'll go back and work those upper highlight areas some more, cheers!
Thanks Austen, I do hope to keep posting regularly. Study..practice..trying to take my stuff up a notch. I worked on the highlight area of the apple and completed a bronze statue study with painter.

Awesome start! You're three minutes sketches are amazing. there's a lot of movement and feeling to them.
Burdie: thanks, I'm glad you like them! With long poses or rendering, it's so easy for me to tighten up. Short poses are such a great way to break loose!
Ookchk: appreciate that Ookchk! Will try to keep posting. Thanks for stopping by.
Some more studies for now...

This pose was a great one to practice a little foreshortening.
My xacti camera was sittin on my desk and I thought, let try Sketchbook pro out on it...

Some more life drawing....
Thanks SymbioticFusion, I'm glad you like them. Hopefully I can bring some of their good points together.
Thank you Randis, you do amazing stuff. I love the energy in you have in your work whether man or machine. I hope to do the same someday.
Starting doing longer poses the last couple of years.

New tech stuff
Thanks Ghast and seungy, appreciate the comments! Thanks for pointing out the proportions, cheers!
Here's one a little different style.
Pretty awesome stuff. I really like the studies and the texture of the work. The only thing I think I could say in the way of feedback is to work on faces a bit more. The bodies you have are extremely realistic and have some really great lines and life to them. The faces that you posted don't seem to have the same amount of life to them (or are missing). Normally that is the first place the viewer is going to look because the eye is always looking for it. Just a thought anyway. Keep the faith!
Thanks masterpug! great point about the faces...ya, I have a bit of an aversion to them...but you're of course absolutely right, it's the first thing we look to.
I have a few that I spent longer on and managed to get some facework in, but I will have try try harder, thanks!
Here's a few with a bit of colour too.
I'm in awe of this man. Especially the fluidity of those line.
Only think I want to point out is that you seem kind of afraid to push your values more. Don't be so afraid of going darker.
click and crit
Thanks for the comments cannibalcarnival. I do lose good tone especially when I work in colour, I do need to push it more!
Recent work and rework...
I thought the painting of that camera (from, like, 2 years ago..) was a photograph.
Your paintings are great, and as others have said the lines for the quick lifedrawing are wonderful. You can call me a fan of those lines. I never thought I'd be a fan of lines, but here we are.
I really like the first piece in your newest post, I think it has more contrast of the two. The design of the second is cool - very "evil dark knight".
Finally back again doing more stuff. Still struggling with a lot of the same problems but let's hope I can make some improvement now.
Thanks Tundra, I think the fact that's it monotone and a shiny surface makes it possible, I don't do so well on people.
It's been great looking back through all the comments and really nice that people like my quick gestures. Unfortunately I can't seem to bring that energy together with rending like I did on the camera. My painting always seems to just kill my drawing.
Anyway, will stick with the stilted paintings for now and see what we can do.
