    Sketchbook Thread

I have decided to finally start a sketchbook, because well, I could use the extra motivation. Ill start off with a couple of life drawings ive done recently. I hope you like them. Traditional 20-40 mins poses. And the 1st portrait is of my friend Kim in oil. The first from imagination.

I think these are quite good...

I can't really help with crits because you're a bit ahead of me skill-wise but I thought someone should comment here. Nice work!

I LOVE your work. There. I said it.

Haha, your stuff has such a classical feel to it. I can't really pinpoint exactly what it is that's so enthralling about your work, but it IS enthralling... Keep doing what you're doing.

All I ask is that you post more! C:

Heya garzonius. Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook

You have a terribly good action going on here when it comes to portraying the human figure. I'm especially digging the way you capture people's expressions!

    Keep this up

    Morgado-Thanks, I try..

Heres a recent wip in oil( I apologize for the crappy photography) and a vehicle sketch design I am working on. Its a WIP too.
The first is a self portrait. I think now Im about 15 pounds heavier than what I painted a week ago. WTF.

Very nice drawings and paintings. The self-portrait is especially well done.

    But isn't sanguine, uh, blood?

kidding. I think. 5 stars from me!

Heres a still life that I just decided to do for the hell of it. It's not the greatest but, its good practice.

First one is a study of one of my favorite movie monsters. Second is a self portrait done in a mirror. I think it took almost 3 hours. Im not terribly happy with it. I'll have to do some serious corrections on it later. 3rd is a watercolor painting. Im sure I could find some good use for this.

Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook, gar! I have to say that you've got some great stuff in here, I just love those animal studies. Looking forward to coming back for more inspiration, so keep up the fantastic work!

I love your portraits! I used to love oil, then switched to acrylics, then to a lot of drawing...it's a beautiful medium, though a little frustrating.
I've been thinking of taking out the ol' oils. Any tips for oils portraits?

Sup Frank, it's Alaric from De Anza. Just dropping by to hi. I'm digging these portraits you have up. That sea dinosaur sketch is pretty badass. I'm thinking a painted version is in order.

By the way, did you not sign up for Dave's figure drawing class? You're going to miss out on some serious sessions. They start next week.

Also, I heard your name during roll call in Allie's oil class. Did you drop? I was like, damn it, where's Frank... I don't know what the hell I'm doing. You should see my color wheel/blending exercise. It's laughably bad.

But it's all good, I'll catch up with you eventually.

Gosh darn you can do one fine portrait, but I think my favorite thing in here is that study at the top of post six. I'd really love to see more like that.

    Keep posting!
