T.a.i.v.a.s: Thanks! If you rotate the image 90ŗ the composition will make more sense. I rotated it like that as an experiment.
Mark Tarrisse: Thanks! And you're right. That's one of my weakest points at the moment (among others). I know I should start drawing more humans and faces, hands etc. But sometimes lazyness gets the best of me

Also, you're right about the gal, she's wrong. But I think that the real problem is the size of the head, which is too small compared to the rest of the body! I'll have to get back to it and make it bigger, atleast.
Ben: Thanks! I actually haven't been timing myself, but I believe the first 2 were around 15\30 mins, and the last 2 a bit more.
Colt: Thanks! Yes I'm actually trying to get a bit away from sci-fi, to try and be more fresh, and to be honest I always thought other subject matters were lacking in my work. So now I'll try to be a bit more balanced.

Well, no art tonight for good reason I believe. I've been a bit busy watching and "studying" Gnomon's Master classes. Is being well worth the money, and having a chance to hear Craig Mullin's ideas has been an eye opener on some aspects for me.
First, because he touched and shared opinions on some things that I've allways thought about and struggled if I should go with the masses mentality, or my own. I'm happy to know that his opinions and mine are very similar.
Second, he actually has a way of thinking and working, that to be honest I never expected, but that now make sense after hearing his reasons.
So I'm trying to take his lessons to heart. And I've been painting, failing alot (which is needed), succeeding a bit. I'll post some results next week, or perhaps sooner.
From now on I'll take my time with my personal work, and save the super rush 30mins speeds for any production work I might do. I believe I've already learnt a lot of technical tricks, to be able to give myself that luxury.
Sorry about all this philosophy "dump", you certainly don't come here to read any of that, but I needed to vent something out of my system, and this time not with a brush

Hey Morgado, I really like your style of painting, and the colors that you use.
Its very organic and complimentary, or maybe I should say earthy colors. I'm
diggin your sketchbook. Great stuff. I bet its fun as hell to
make up environments and paint them. Perspective is my next goal
after anatomy. I've got a ways to go realistically, but I'm slowly
working at it. Keep up your painting and drawing. You're doing awesome!

The two pages have a lot of good preliminary drawings laid down. You should really take some time to push some of those drawings too a higher/deeper level of development. Take a break from just doing speed-paintings, they could turn into patterns that prohibit your growth as an artist.

Also regarding what you said about being in the process of studying anatomy and later you are going to move on to perspective. Might I suggest trying both at the same time? You'd be amazed of how one can help the understanding of the other!
Peetaer & Lateman: I reply to you both on the same line, because what you said is related. I can see where you both come from with those remarks, and trust me I have them close in my heart (in a manner of speaking eheh).
Yes I do many many many speeds\sketches. The reason is simple: I believe its in the sketch pahse that you learn 99% of the craft - proportion, colors, values, etc etc. The rest is just making it "pretty". So only a matter of time.
I developed some pieces further in the past. It was indeed a good exercise. And you can bet I'll do it again (in fact, I'm doing it at the moment to 2 images).
All this blah blah for one reason, and this is more a general remark: I get the impression that around here (not only CA but online art communities in general), people value the ultra realistic and uberly worked look. Thats all fair and well, and the uberly worked image has its importance. But I think that the sketch is getting less and less attention and importance as a side effect. More and more I see people who advance to a final, without having a solid base (sketch) beneath it, and solve problems on the fly. And when I say "solid" in a sketch I mean have everything the final would have: forms, value, color, accuracy. I don't think I'm good in this, quite the contrary. That's why I prefer doing 100 "solid" sketches per 1 final image.
And of course there's also the matter that the industry (and consequently the masses) shows a preference to more "photo-real" works. But thats another discussion alltogether
Don't take it by this long rant that I'm discarding your crits, quite the contrary, I thought about them very long before replying, formed an opinion, and ultimately posted it. I'd like to hear yours, coz I like keeping discussions going
Right'o the following are some studies I did recently, all photo-ref (since around here its almost impossible to get live models). I'll post some imagination stuff later.
And yes I should draw more males as well (before you say anything, I'll spare your keyboard )

Agree with the above!!! Great new sketches and don't be upset with those who try to draw fotorealistic, cause I do. Well, because I can't do no better. I always envy those people who can draw a great picture with those loose brush strokes.
I did try several times, but always looked like spaghetti with tomato sauce, lol!!!
