But no panda today. Haven't done anything much to him. Here's the Owl again:

made the eyes in photoshop, but i don't think it works, yeah? it's kinda separated from the other elements. I think i have to work on it again Good news is, the t-shirt label owner likes it and want to print it, means more cash for me

And here are variations of an illustration i did for a local radio's birthday event, it will have live music performances, i guess. The theme itself isn't new and/or exciting, it's about how technology supports nature or such... pretty cliche and lame, i say. And hypocritical too. Sponsors request, it must be. But, as some say, job's a job, it pays well and i managed to do something exciting out of it. I decided to make it a pixelart-ish illustration. A new thing to me, at least

the owl looks nice. Give the eyes the painterly effect of the rest and it's pretty neat.

    Ooops, forgot to reply:

    LAL: Thank you!

Jason: Thanks for dropping here again. Yeah, i kinda determined to swarm this thread with my mental excretion as much as possible I still slacking the studies though :/ Heheh. Post more, will you!

Ares: Yup. I'm workin on it. Thanks for your suggestion and appreciation, mate

purb: Encourage me to do more studies instead, i kinda need that. Hahaha. Thanks for comment, by the way

Kingkostas: Thank you, thank you. Let's hope the pixels made their way to the client successfully. Still got no reply from them. I'm afraid they don't like it and more afraid to be asked to do something more cliche in "magical speed" instead, it sells better around here .

ok. study hands and arms, in different poses and positions. specifically, which muscles are active and inactive for different positions of the hand and arm, and the shapes they create in those positions as seen from different angles. this is what you wanted, right?...

I took a luck through you SB today and your stuff is great. My favourite illustration is the fan art of Dream from the Sandman comics. I am a big fan of the Sandman series and was really impressed.

been looking through your sb and the main issue I could find is facial placement. My suggestion is do a couple of skull studies, maybe a facemuscle study it'll help alot.
    Good work so far.

I've found posemaniacs.com to the best reference for muscles, you've probably seen that site though its very popular. Very nice sketchbook by the way absolutely love the toad step by step on page 1, your rendering skills are excellent..keep up the studies.

Oh....the owl...it looks like one eye is bigger than the other..is that intentional?

Kingkostas: Thanks, king. The pixel tree didn't make it, in case you are wondering. They don't like it and they got someone else to do it now and sadly, it's... tbh it's terrible now, i can't believe it myself . But looking at the bright side, we were lucky not to be the guys who have to do the terrible requests from the client AND we still got half the payment, so it's not that bad

Angel Intheuk: Hey Angel! Thanks for dropping by and giving suggestion and crit. Yeah, i actually forgot about posemaniac, found out about it when i drew a lot of gesture. I never like the site for that purpose to be honest, but yeah, i think i could use it to get muscle references in some poses now. And i agree about the owl's eyes, i think it's caused by skewing and distorting in photoshop to get some proportion (i cheat a little, ... only a little ) but i never noticed about the eyes, actually. So, thank you. Thank you for being helpful, glad to have you here Cheers!

    And noooow... no study (yet)
Here's a couple of drawings i did recently, well at least i'm still drawing. Heheh.

    A clowny character:
    Name: clown-01.jpg
Views: 590
Size: 115.0 KB

    more clown:
    Name: clown-sad.jpg
Views: 596
Size: 117.6 KB

And it's the owl in color, still a plan, not yet finished, i have to paint over it still and add some details in the finishing stage. Did some fixes, including the eyes as Angel had mentioned.
    Name: OWL_1_003.jpg
Views: 599
Size: 100.9 KB

I realized that my traditional drawing skill is suffering... I have to tell it to myself over again to do the old pencil on paper and not to line-sketch digitally ever again, at least until i have a bigger wacom.

Some really nice updates since I was last in here; definitely digging the owl, though I think pushing values in the branch might help a little, or maybe just refining it a tiny bit more. Keep doing anatomy studies as well as imagination and life drawing and I think you'll do great. You're certainly well on your way, so just keep working hard.

Hey there. You have a really nice variety of work, from subject matter to technique! I don't have any real critique for your work, you seem to have a good grasp on everything. I really like that scarecrow head sheet and the ramming spider though, they look awesome.

All I can say is that I look forwards to seeing more of what you come up with!

i would say, actually, in my opinion (for arms especially, but in general), posemaniacs is NOT so great for muscle ref. while it shows muscles in general in different positions, it lacks the technology for dynamic muscle movement. basically, the muscles will NOT stretch and grow depending on the movement, unlike that of a real human. i would suggest bridgman, bammes, and hampton for that, probably bammes most of all. you can find his german book online, as the english one is heavily abridged and most of the great material is left out. hampton goes through this as well, his examples are just really skinny compared to normal people. anyway, that's what i would recommend personally. if you find something that works better for you, great! and let other people know as well. anyway, lookin good with the studies...maybe i'll draw something up for you to kinda explain what i meant in terms of the motion/shape/silhouettes and all. take care man, i'll be back soon.

Your work is blunt and working too hard to cover it up by being "artsy". Re-f***ing-laxe, because it's a headache to look at. You called my stuff "stiff"...Jesus The Christ, you're trying to carve Mount Rushmore out of pixels. Draw a picture of a soft, fluffy kitten or something, to take the edge off of your embarrassing effort. Seriously, turn the "art volume" down to zero and just do a plain ol' life study.

Either that, or start printing the word !ART! in every square inch of your canvas. Your choice.

    Dead men tell no lies.

On the whole, human beings want to be good, but not too good, and not quite all the time.
