    Is Painter Classic any good?

    Is painter Classic any good?
I am getting it with my new Cintiq tablet, and I am not sure if I need to shell out for Painter also.

(I have used Illustrator some, but Painter not at all.)

I have only been using Painter for a little bit now, but I do like Painter8 more that Classic. You can use Painter Classic as a base option for an upgrade to Painter8. Saves a little bit of money

I use Painter Classic. I think it´s a very good program, but i´ve to say that it´s very limited. You don´t have layers, it doesn´t save your presets and on... and on.... and on.....
But you can obtain a very good results with it. I like it at all!

As mentioned above, Painter Classic 1 and Painter Classic 2 are very limited introductions to full Painter versions.

In Painter Classic 1, which was based on the full version, Painter 5, we can add extra brushes and art materials. It doesn't have Layers, and uses the old Water Color technology that paints on the invisible Water Color Layer (at the Canvas level).

In Painter Classic 2, which was based on the full version, Painter 7, we can't add extra brushes or art materials. It does have Layers, Water Color Layers (above the Canvas like other Layers), and Liquid Ink Layers, and uses the new Water Color technology introduced with Painter 7.

Both are useful, especially to give you a general idea of what full Painter versions offer but any full Painter version offers vastly more than either Painter Classic version offers.

A lot of people do really nice work with Painter Classic 1 and Painter Classic 2.
Please do not PM me with Painter questions. Instead, post them here where everyone can benefit from them. Thanks!
