hey there mate, really interesting updates as of late. I think it is great that you are experimenting with more intense colours and variations.
Only thing this time is that I want you to think about your focus points, I find the latest piece a bit too bright all over.

    Keep up the godness!

Hei hei, very good job! Looks like you got talent creating creatures! They are really interesting. If you are up to study the animal anatomy the designs may become very professional... I am really looking forward to some finished stuff and more body studies. Take care my friend - g

Allright.. I kinda missed this weeks chow.. but heck - wasn't pleased with my piece at all anyway

Starting on a personal project for fun. Those of you familiar with Blizzard's Diablo franchise might recognise these characters.
I am going to illustrate each character class with their personal set.

I'm currently working on the necromancer and druid, which are my favorite characters..
The necromancer set is called Trang-Ouls Avatar, and by lore we learn that Trang-Oul is the dragon upon which the world lies. He is worshiped by the necromancers, and in return grants them wisdom and magic enchantations.
In the game, if you have the complete set - your character turns into a monster-class called vampire, which looks more like a tall wraith-like creature. I will try to incorporate some dragon in the piece aswell
    More to come these days!

    The druid sketch..

In the game, the druid is a hybrid character, with a setup of different types of playstyles: melee-type spells and abilities in form of shapeshifting; defensive and offensive summoning spells and range-type nature spells.

I've chosen to depict him in with parts of the summoning-spell tree and shapeshifting-tree.
To the left you can see a summoned creature called carrion vine. It morphs into the shapeshift ability known as werewolf, which in turn, morphs into the werebear, which morphs back into the most powerful of summons - grizzleybear.
They're all interlaced to show that they're a part of the druids abilities.

More work on the druid, and started working on the Sorceress.

Her set is called Tal-Rashas wrappings, and in the game, Tal-Rasha is the head of the Horadrim brethren, a brotherhood who hunts down the three prime evils to seal them away from the mortal world.
Though they fail to seal away the last of the brothers, Baal. Tal-Rasha then voluntarily seals Baal within himself, and is imprissoned within a tomb forever.

The sorceress is a pure spellcaster, with fire ice and lightning. So I'm going to depict all three elements, and try to give the piece the feeling of her being possesed by some twisted presence.
How that's going to be done I don't know yet..
I'm also going to change the druid piece, by having him moving towards the viewer as in the necromancer piece. As it reads at the moment, there's no interaction - I want him to look away, being occupied by his summoning, but still have him interact with us by walking our way.

Oh and.. today it's 1 year ago I got my wacom tablet... time goes fast!

Have you got a series of stuff planned, or is this all just spur of the moment? Hard to believe you've only had a tablet for a year, you learned to use it a lot faster than I did lol

Your sketching process is really intuitive too, no fear for making mess and getting ideas down. Have you ever seen a blank canvas for more than a couple of seconds?

Great stuff as always man, keep throwing out the creepy shit

Man Made God - You could say this is a spur of the moment series.. As long as I enjoy this I'll keep doing it. But it's nothing I've been planning. I've just had the idea in the back of my head for some time.
Allthough I've wanted to make fan-art for many years, it's first now I feel I have the artistic level to express myself.

Whats a blank canvas? haha joke..

My sketching process is very sub-concious, when I paint though, and I havn't allways been able to let my mind run freely. For a really long time I used to get stuck with the basic sketch, trying not to paint over it etc. It's been very limiting.. my teacher kept telling me to paint like I draw - and I finnaly dare to do so.

I pretty much get a feeling in my mind of what I want to make.. and I let the hand talk.. though the entire process is a mystery to me, cause I'm not really aware of what I'm doing - I can't explain how I create what I do.. intuition is probably a good explanation.
Sometimes I nail it in a few seconds, other times I doodle for god knows how long.

More work on the sorceress.. Got 4 characters left to depict; Paladin, Amazon, Assasin and Barbarian. This is really fun

    Moving on to the Barbarian.

A brute force character.. specialised in melee combat and mastering the arts of weaponry.

His set is called Immortal King. In Diablo lore, immortal king is the title of the legendary Bul-Kathos - the warrior who united the scattered tribes who are now known as the barbarians.
By wearing the immortal king I've chosen to have the spirit of Bul-Kathos follow the hero, aiding him in battle.

    hey cool updates, mate.
I really like where that barbarian from a few posts back is going.
the design look pretty good, now make sure you push the contrast and saturation on it.
the minichallenge wip looks good as well. the armor scribbling is really promising.
    keep at it!

ReviseTheMethod - Thanks man! made another.. or, actually, no, it's not a tattoo.. but I'd definitely have the sketch in this post on my back, or shoulder.

Monotony - thank you! yes I'll have it in mind, so far I've just worked with very desaturated colours.. gonna push everything when I start rendering

and I'm sorry to inform you that I didn't have time to finnish the portrait piece..

Allright, had some time to work more on my Diablo tribute, sketched out the Amazon.
My part-time job sucks, and is taking my time.. actually it's not that harsh at all.. I just suck at geting my priorities sorted out.. anyway haha.

Also started on a surrealistic/abstract painting in school.. my mobilephone kills it.. so you might not see what it is - it's a butterfly in flames. We have a theme in school - heaven and hell - and I try to depict both in this piece, to me it also symbolises the duality of love.. sometimes cold and harsh.. other times flaming and passionate.
Medium used is waterbased oil, and it's still in chaos.. briefly started rendering the waves at the bottom. More to come these weeks.

Niiice man, traditional...and water-soluble oils at that. How big is it? It's gonna be interesting to see where it goes.

Your sketching skills are epic, and your character roughs are pretty damn promising. I like the colours in the druid piece especially.
The dominance war WIP looks nice, the first thing I thought when I scrolled down was that it was the paladin, actually...maybe you could turn it into a Diablo piece.

Oden - Thank you very much! yea I've been thinking of turning it into a diablo piece.. could be the angel Izual.

The canvas I'm painting on is ~80 cm high / ~65 cm wide.. pretty large scale.

Also dusted of 2 older pieces I started last year, but never finnished. They are depicting the two aspects of nature; life and death, same size as mentioned above. The one here is death, and started out with acrylics, but now oils.. I was told that it won't matter since the oils are water-soluble
And a still life I did 2 months ago, also water-soluble oils.

First nudes in over 3 months! feels good. Finnaly had some time to do some live nudes.. Charcoal rules! It's so intuitive and creativly uncontrolled.. it's like an ocean of visualisation, smearing around with your fingers... I suck at finding time to do studies from my bridman book though.

Got my priorities all messed up.. I see myself as an omnipotent all-knowing superhuman, yet I'm nothing more than human. /joke.

Also worked more on the Amazon. Her set is known as M'avina's Regalia (I think) and is characterised by its silver look and the bow. I don't know who M'avina is in the lore, I assume she's some kind of warriorprincess.

I've chosen to incorporate the amazon's three different spelltrees - ranged combat, spearcombat and passive/magic skills. To her left is a powerful summon known as valkyrie.
This is the piece I'm least happy about right now. Hopefully it'll turn out good.

Okay, put the metaphors down before you hurt yourself, mate

The ocean of visualisation is this thread... I try not to post unless I have a crit, but every time I look here you have loads of new stuff, it's overwhelming, you could say I'm drowning in the ocea... nah, that's cheesy!

But for a guy lacking in anatomy studies, the figures are looking great. I started life drawing classes just after Xmas, your life drawings are really impressive. When did you start?

Keep going man, you're gonna be one of the badasses!
