Great work as usual! Be careful about the centaur's chest wideness/angle, as well as the rear legs. Loving the troll. Try to give the stripe tattoos some inclination, according to the shape of the belly. Other than that, lovely things

    Hej Mulle.
How are things, did I answer your mail... maybe not.
Looks like your doing good anyway. Working hard on 3ds max? Awesome.
Other than that, what going on, read something about some art competition. When is the UKM thing now again?

And by the way, cool tiger dragon and troll.

the troll looks cool man but he needs more meat on his legs, they look like they can snap by the slightest hit.

OmertA - Thanks man! glad you like them

UmpaArt - Haha thanks! .. don't kill (That's friggin awesome to hear! can't wait to see what you put up in the near future ! good luck with the finals)

Witcrack - Haha, an illustration I did around 2 years ago also feature's a troll with mushrooms growing on his back. To me, it feels natural to add mushrooms and moss and plants on them since it's a part of a being. Thanks

Jasper_ - I hear ya, 3d is really taking time. Once the fundamentals are down I can imagine it being easier to work with.

    Abrodos
    - Yeah I noticed that when I uploaded, you're always so good with your crits man. Thanks!

    Rushlord
    - Right now I have nothing worth of puting up haha, hopefully I'll be able to present something Thanks!

Pencilator - Per-Elof! Hej! it's alright. 3ds Max is complicated and fun hehe, already now I feel I percieve my drawings a bit differently, thinking more 3d-ish when constructing.
The competition went good! I didn't win but I'm proud of my piece, if you look a bit further back, the one with two snakes. Also, UKM is in 1 month, I'll be holding the workshop 15th of May. It's only for participants within UKM though which kinda sucks..
Cheers man I'll have to get back to you.

Hey everyone! thanks for your crits and comments. In a bit of a hurry, just dropping this portrait study, it's made by Anthonis Van Dyck, selfportrait "Fig. 7" Borrowing a book from a friend of my father with portraits ranging over 5 centuries, really beautiful book.
Could've rendered out hands and folds better, though I feel that over-all it's well balanced and close to semblance.

Oren90 - Oh didn't see you mate, guess you wrote while I was typing. Guess there's a bit of stylisation going on there, cartoonish. I could give them a bit fore meat though, thanks!

no hard feelings there , the study looks good and as you said you could have rendered the folds and hands better but the focus is on his head so it still looks great

Don't listen to that nonsense. Not everything has to be realistic all the time. Those little legs give the troll character. The disproportionate size of the troll is in fact, why I like it so much. If you meat up his legs, it will likely be far less interesting.

I think the troll came out pretty sweet, but I would have messed about with the proportions/shapes a bit more. Feels like u are stuck in kind of an awkward middle zone between wanting to have realistic proportions, and heavy stylizing.

I think the thing about the heavy styling, is that you shouldn't questions wether it works or not, it just looks good overall. The character designs from One Piece do this really well, IMO.

first of all it's nice of you to say one's opinion is nonsense, second I didn't say it looks bad, I said it looks a bit thin that's all, I overall really liked the troll and just gave my opinion, it's his choice to take or not

I also think the troll looks good and I didn't tell him to kill the styling of the legs and go super realistic I simply gave my opinion.
when you see a creature that overall looks awasome but his anatomy sucks and is not beliveable will you be able to see that creature standing beside you?

Well, the only time i drew a mushroom patch on a skin was on my foot's and that wasn't impressive at all! some said it is gross and some other said it's tasty but never impressive

The colors on your latest study looks promising. Push it more

    Cow

Thank you friends. Oren and Umpa, it's cool I like the thin legs and will keep them. (In the end this is ma' house, ma' rulez, anyway )

    Metal Fingers
    - Haha, it's only a studyyyyyy!

Texahol - Yes, I have to agree with you on the One Piece bit, one of my all-time fav. mangas and the characters are so good. I still get a bit stuck in the beginning. For this one specifically I had a lot of initial re-draws and I think that shows.. kinda, just want to get over it.

Mike Butkus - I didn't love him enough Thanks for reminding me to love what I do.

Citrusfrukt - Hehe thanks man, hope drawing works out for you!

Tokotewhero - Thanks! I'll do my best

    Jeremyg0rdon
    - Thank you very much!

Witcrack - Haha, shrooms shrooms.. those kind of details can really add a lot to a piece, depending on how you use them. As for the colours.. it's really difficult for me to push them, with the lighting in my room and the book (the original picture is very small) .. the colours are very hard to find.

Working on some old half-started illustrations. I've got like 10-15 lying around. I've begun to think, I'm too eager with my ideas. As soon as I get one I want to flesh it out, which is good and bad. Good thing is, my imagination is running wild all the time.. bad thing is I start so much I can't finish.
My friend told me to write down my ideas instead, and focus on really finishing my work.
"4000 half-finished pieces won't make you a badass artist, but 3 really cool pictures most definitely will"
I like that quote so I've decided to really work some of my old pieces. Attaching my new wip and the old piece where I left it.
    laters!

*edit* rendering some scales, adding it to be able to compare the versions easier.

Killer updates, looking forward to that dragon duo piece being done. I love the way you make scales, they always have a great sheen to them.

Very nice dragons, your seens of rythm and colour is working very well. It looks like your having alot of fun.
So are you showing any 3d stuff? Agree on that 3d is the best way of memorizing stuff. Especially for construction. Cut out as much as possible and just focus on the big masses.

Cool to see that your doing master studies, my advice is, don't rush it. And have a clear goal on what you want to get out from this specific artist. The things you do the best works just fine. One thing that's maybe not working so good is the drawing. Widths compared to heights. And those things have to work in relationship with the whole. So just going in and rendering the hand for example won't solve it, because then you lock your field of vision. And it might end up with that you're to happy with the result that you don't feel like changing the big shape.

By the way, where are you landscape paintings?

    Take care and work hard

Those scales already look edible. In fact, that may be one of the most important factors for your creature designs, have you created and portrayed an animal that could conceivably be dominated by human weaponry and served for a high price in restaurants regardless of how bad it tastes? Have you seen Avatar? I'd eat that whole goddamn planet.

Hi DefiledVisions, been browsing the forums but mainly studying your sketchbook for the past couple of weeks so I finally decided to sign up and join in on the action and I must say your work has been a strong inspiration to me. Its so inspiring in fact that im doing drawings almost everyday now where as before I was only putting pencil to paper every few weeks. I was in a stage where you described yourself as just not being able to draw for days and trying to force myself to draw. Your dragons and human anatomy studies from posemaniacs are my favourites in your SB.

So i'd just like to give a kind thanks to you DV and keep up the work
