Luness - thank you! will do

Missed out on the COW and selfportrait day! crap! shit happens, had a great time during the weekend.
Sensation White was in Copenhagen and I went there with some friends. Those not familiar with sensation, it's a massive live event with dj's, white is mainly trance and house while black is hardstyle and hardcore.
It was insane! definitely going there again, though this time I'd prefer Amsterdam

here's a portrait I started before I went to party my brains away, aswell as the new COW 160 - satyr slayer.

Cheers!

Spaggen - Hey mate! Allways nice to have you drop by thank you! keep kicking it

Render render.. this is fun! Realised how bad I am at this stage, geting stuck i details, though I'm more careful with details now than a while back.
The arm is a little bit weird, at first it was facing completely wrong angle as you might notice from the first wip, I changed it, however the angle of the hand still gives it a strange feeling.
Nothing I have time to change now since I'm going away for a few days tommorow to visit family in denmark. No art until monday again
    Take care

Hah, I think a lot of us are bad at that stage... or rather, it's hard to keep going when you can't see what it's going to turn out like. Keep going!

Enydimon - Yea I agree, though I have to say it's more about geting so much into one detail, to find out it didn't fit well with the piece as a whole rather than not knowing how its going to turn out.
I think thats a thing many are atruggling with.. nothing sucks harder than having to re-do a head you just spent an hour on rendering

I am finishing this COW tonight.. I will be so restless if I have to think of finishing it while Im away. Byebye good night's sleep
more progress, enjoying this a lot! Inspired by traditional oilpantings, I love realism (bouguereau, oh the atmosphere! oh the colours!) - trying to get an oily feel here too.

    *Edit*

Finnaly done... 7 hours solid work and 6 AM in the morning.. what the **'s my problem? oh well, enjoy

The COW looks awesome, man! Very nice use of colours. I like how you were inspired by traditional oil paintings - it shows, and it's indeed very interesting. Just maybe it would've got more depth and fear-factor if the background had some darker schemes at certain places?

    Awsome creature designs!
I always wondered how artists get their colors such rich and vibrant like you do.
My only question is, why do you study human form and anatomy but nearly never paint a single human being? ^^
Keep up the good work, I´m looking forward to some inspirational updates

Lord M -Tack man! sjysst att höra

Mokinzi - Thanks! yes mainly the strokes and trying to have different hues. It looks like browns and greens, but theres a lot of blues, orange, purple, turqoise etc. Also I think you're right. At one point I tried to change to a darker forest setting, but it didnt work out.

    Enydimon
    - thank you! I'm still learning, I think I could have given the legs aswell as the whole body some more volume by adding some more hightlights.

bWorx - Thanks! really glad to hear it

    HunterKiller_ - Thanks man

Arne Meyer - Anatomy is allways good to do. It's easy, you don't have to think of what to draw, just copy the ref. It's also fun and after a while it sinks in and adds up to a whole other level.. as for never drawing people, I dont know haha. Will have to start doing some

Enthombed - Thank you very much! glad you like them!

    gnirlE
    - kult! I will definitely.

Sorry for not posting, seeing all your comments made me really happy. Have a lot of schoolwork this week uncalled for.. I'm growing really tired of studying. Not that I'm not good at it, it's that I have other priorities like drawing, and when I am torn between the two I have guilt because I don't study.. and yet I am unable to draw because I know I should be studying - I end up doing random crap. A quite small complex, and it brings so many problems.
Next year I'll only be studying half time, want to get into art again as I did in the beginning of this sketchbook..
take care and thank you, updates soon. Have some stuff I want to show but no time to scan now.

...my friend, you're a good guy. Not just your art, either. But you've got a great balance to you as a person. I appreciate your honesty and your artwork, the nature of your posts and how you handle the various visitors. It is to be commended.

Your pencil stuff has gotten really wicked since you started this sketchbook, I'd definitely like to see some more scans. And the dragons? ...c'mon, they're DRAGONS. I'd paint a dragon but I'm too scared I'd screw it up at the moment.

I'd like also to see some digital stuff fleshed out a little bit more, you've got it all looking great, but I think you could learn a lot of stuff and help speed up your process if you spent a lot of time on one, and really pushed it into a final piece.

I'll definitely be stopping by more often. Might shoot you a PM at some point, as well. You seem like a cool guy to have a chat with.

    ...after your studies, anyway.

Hey DefiledVisions, your work is quite spectacular! I'm quite fascinated with your dragon work; their anatomy, form, and weight just make them pop right out of the page (I'm a sucker for dragons). I'm especially fascinated with your speedpainted ones, how you are able to make the colors blend so well with each brushstroke... Do you work in Photoshop?

Two Listen - Thank you very much for your comment and the compliments. I'd be really glad to hear from you Do you have msn?
As for the part about fleshing out a piece, I think you're right - when I paint I'm allways looking for areas of improvent, trying to figure out which specific areas I should be working more on.. and I do so in two different ways, either speedpaints, sort of a challenge, "How far can you go given an hour or so?" and try to reach something acceptable. By doing so I have been learning a lot, though I don't find out what I am capable of really. Last time I really pushed a piece was for the Blizzard fanart contest, and it turned out great! There's this challenge I'm into that will require some really good fleshing out - more on that later.
    Thanks man.

    Tatsu
    - Want to suck for dragons together?? () haha joke.. thank you! Hum, yes I paint in photoshop, and when I did those speedpaints I used a custom brush with a nice flow to blend the colours. In other words.. magic basically it's just a lot of colorpicking, opacity set to about 70% and a lot of second guessing.

WhiteC - Thank you! I think its my laptops fault, the colours appear different on normal screens. Yea I agree about the whole belly area seems a bit flat, I didnt know how to fix it tho so just left it.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! really keeps me motivated these dark times..
Havn't been painting for a long time, it sucks. My computer was malfunctioning a while, old drivers and stuff and, yea, schoolwork. Things are settling down now which means art again! yea, feels better than my birthday. Problem is there's so much I want to do.
Here's some sketches; C.O.W 161 sketch, Nibru head (never got to the rest of the body) an alien and a beast.
    More stuff to come!

Yay, finally an update! I'm really glad you've the time to start drawing again. I've missed you. Haha.

Okey, the art. All I can say is - lovely as usual. The lines, the liveliness and the designs are just awesome. Love the Nibru head and the beast! More!

Whoa, class note sketches, those are familiar
You're that good and still in school? That's pretty awesome, are you studying art?
Thanks for the reply, I've never really messed much with custom brushes but it seems to help a lot with texture and establishing an overall style.

Midknight523 - Thanks, normaly I use mechanical pencils with normal hb, sometimes 2b. These are not pencil though, they're a mechanical inkpencil.

Struve - haha yea! thanks, I just dropped out because of you (not.) I want to.. have to finish what I started now though.

quick sketch for this week's ChoW. Did some thumbnails earlier and these were the more interesting, however they turned out quite alike so think I'm gonna blend both of them.
Trying a limited pallette - treating the colours as if they were oils. Here I'm using a black, white, yellow ochre substitute and burnt umber substitute.
